Hi, asking for personal experiences of people that had a situation similar to this:

If you have been in thailand fo around six months, using visa runs. Do you know if doing the same next year gets you questioned in airport inmigration or they just care about the stamps on the same year?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community discusses concerns regarding the implications of making visa runs in Thailand after staying for six months. Responses suggest that immigration officers may scrutinize travel history and question long stays without appropriate visas. Recommendations include obtaining a Multi-entry Tourist Visa that aligns with one's stay duration to avoid potential issues.

Getting the visa that actually matches your reason for being here so long will make these issues go away. Tourists don't spend 6 months in one country

. Some yes... vast majority don't. They make rules and regulations to manage the majority not a handful of individuals who try to find loopholes instead of doing what most do... a visa. Visa exempt means no visa.

ok understand now

no I'm not saying that.. I'm saying immigration prefer you pay for a tourist visa instead of using visa exempt, which is free, to stay long term. Thats all..

They look at your history, and if they see you bouncing in and out of thailand , not spending much time outside, they can suspect you are using it to stay long term. Most people who have done this and were questioned by imm eventually are told to get a VISA next time or face being denied entry next time. A visa of any type almost always avoids this.

. To answer your question they calculate it per calendar year.

. He isn't using a ME tourist visa. He's bouncing on exempt it seems. He's a tourist so get a tourist visa.

. We would all be living here on tourist visas if it was that easy. It's immigration you need to convince. Tourist visas get a lot less scrutiny than visa exempt entries over and over again. It's how it looks to the imm officer when they look at your history. Any immigration in any country can refuse you entry as a tourist , they have total discretion, don't need a reason.

Get a tourist visa instead of bouncing on exempt and they are much more likely to leave you alone. Metv is actually cheaper in the long run

A multi-entry Tourist Visa is valid for 6 months and can get you almost nine months in Thailand so that is not true.

Why not? I am a tourist, and my gf lives here, what visa is there for people that comes to visit?

Nobody can answer that as the Immigration Officer you are standing in front of will look at your history and decide if you are abusing the syatem. Why don't you get a Multi-entry Tourist Visa (I assume doing visa runs means you had Visa Exempt entries not purchased Visas)?

that is why I asked for personal experiences of people. The multi entry has very tough requirements and either exempt you from inmigration not allowing you enter the country. I believe is much easier to do 2 TR single entry than a multi entry, no?
