Will a lack of travel history cause issues when entering Thailand on a DTV?

Dec 6, 2025

I am flying to BKK at the end of month with my DTV for the first time, it's my first international flight ever.

Can the lack of travel history cause any issues or prompt them to question me? I have the DTV based on remote job and have everything in order.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about entering Thailand for the first time on a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) and whether their lack of travel history may raise questions at immigration. Community responses reassure the user that this will not be a problem, highlighting that having a visa is sufficient, and encouraging relaxation and readiness with essential documents like accommodation details and proof of funds.

Just out of curiosity, what makes someone who never travelled long distance, apply for a 5 year visa in a country never seen before?

No problems, but they could potentially ask a few standard questions since it's your first DTV entry. Not a big deal. Just be nice and honest.

yes think it’s called DTAC Google it don’t wait until your aboard the aircraft as I said you can do it up to 72 hours before arrival if you don’t then when you get into Thailand there are machines that you can do it on but you might have to stand in line !!!

First, you have a visa so no worries there.

Second they have no way of knowing it's your first international flight.

Third neither would they care as it's the people who try to live year round in Thailand on visa exempt that they're bothered about - that's not you.

Fourth just to be sure you should have accommodation booked and carry

baht or equivalent cash in with you. Although you are extremely unlikely to be pulled up on this.

Fifth you should have a laminated copy of your DTV.

I don't think you need a flight out booked as a DTV holder.

I think that's everything. Let's see if anyone else has something to add or correct.

He/she doesn't need to laminate their visa, but they sure like it that way. My IO called all her colleagues over to show them how easy it was to scan :D

What are you afraid of if they ask you questions? You simply say that it's your first international flight and that you're looking forward to spending your vacation in a beautiful country like Thailand
