Why was my online 90-day report rejected after returning to Thailand with a re-entry permit?

I made my first 90-day report in May 2026. In July, I travelled outside Thailand and returned on 3 August using a re-entry permit. I am still using the same passport and visa.

As far as I understand, after returning to Thailand with a re-entry permit, I should be able to submit my 90-day report online, since I had already completed my first report in person under the same visa.

However, my online application was rejected with the following message:

“For first-time requests of a 90-day notification in each country visit, in-person presentation at the immigration office is required.”

Does anyone know why my application was rejected? Is it because I left and re-entered Thailand, even though I used a re-entry permit and had already completed a 90-day report in person? Or could it be related to the fact that I changed my residential address after returning to Thailand?

Has anyone successfully submitted an online 90-day report after returning with a re-entry permit?
Answer summary
The user is confused about the rejection of their online application for the 90-day report after re-entering Thailand with a re-entry permit, despite having completed their first report in person. The rejection message states that first-time reports must be done in-person for each visit. Community members suggest that leaving and re-entering Thailand may have affected the online application eligibility, and changing the residential address could also require an in-person report. Some users share their experiences and advice on the reporting process, including the importance of having matching documentation.

Thanks for the advice! Today, I went to Immigration to complete my 90-day report. It took only 5 minutes, and all they asked for was my TM47, passport, and TM30.

I had read somewhere that once you’ve completed your first 90-day report in person, you can do the next ones online, as long as you leave Thailand and return using a re-entry permit under the same visa. If you leave Thailand without a re-entry permit, your existing visa is cancelled, and you have to complete your first 90-day report in person again.

That’s why I also started this discussion.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to share their experience and advice!

it's correct that you need a re-entry permit if you leave. But that's not specifically related to 90 day report.

A 90 day report is for reporting you spent 90 consecutive days in Thailand. After you do the first one in person, you can do subsequent ones online.

If you leave Thailand before you reach your next 90 day report, you have nothing to report as you didn't spend 90 consecutive days in Thailand. When you return you start counting again from day 1, and that first report will need to be done in person again (as will every first report after entering Thailand).

I just moved and was told I would need to do the report live if I was not returning to the same address. You'll need a current TM7 and your lease they have to match in the computer.

Always better to use a long-established agent. They are up to date on all the rules. We all know it's possible to do it ourselves but, as you've discovered, it's not always straightforward.

I get this all the time, never tell you why, last time it was because my 12 months extension was under the 30 days review so I had to report in person, random as fook but that’s Thailand for you

If you re entered Thailand on the third of August everything start from the beginning and within 24 hours you have to go at your local immigration office than after 90 days than you can do it online

Doesn't the reporting reset every time you leave and enter?

Udonthani Immigration don't require you to report in person after you have been outside the country, but they like it if you do a personal report after returning, if you have missed a 90 day then of cource you need to do one on line or in person. We usually have to shop after we have been away so just dropped in and do the 90 day report, it takes all of 20 minutes, quicker than the drive out to the new office.

I don't get this. Every year after I return to Thailand from overseas travel I always do my next 90 day report online and have never had a problem. I've also never done a TM30 on return as I've always assumed they'd know I was going back to my permanent address here, again never had any issues.

Options for obtaining a multiple-entry visa: The most recommended approach—if you are planning ahead—is to apply for a multiple-entry visa through an embassy. This allows for a stay of up to 90 days per entry, with a total visa validity of one year. You may enter and exit Thailand an unlimited number of times during this one-year period without incurring any additional fees at immigration checkpoints. Alternatively, if you have already been granted a single-entry visa (allowing for a 90-day stay), you may—upon arrival in Thailand and subsequent conversion to a one-year "Extension of Stay"—apply for a "Multiple Re-entry Permit" (at a cost of 3,800 THB)

This is the procedure After every entry into Thailand from outside of country... need to visit physically for 1st 90 days. Next 90 days could be online submission

90 days report is for 90 days CONTINUOUS in Thailand. You left. You returned. You've now not been in the country 90 days continuously. So your 90 days in country restarts.

Read the message. You must go in person.

If you leave Thailand and re-enter - you need an in person TM47, 90 day report. The rejection reasons are in immigration office.

Don't forget to do the TM30 every time you enter thailand. Than after 90 days you need to go in person for reporting your 90 days after this you can report on line ( 90 days is free)

Simply saying.. once left and back to Thailand, that's the 1st time when needed to report for that 90 days. Think on the bright side, you can keep your virginity in cycle as long as you leave Thailand.

Yes it’s normal when we re-enter it restarts and unfortunately we have to go for the first 90 days on the date of entry in person to Immigration

Ones you exit/re-enter it reset the whole 90-days clock concept, meaning the first report must be in person, and the second can then be online.

Good news is that it can be done via an agent or messenger (with the right documentation).

You can use our 90-day reporting service for as little as 375 THB.

*******************

We submit your report in person at immigration on your behalf, so there's no need to visit immigration yourself.

This is a much more reliable option, with a 100% success rate. We submit your report on the day it's due, provide you with a digital receipt immediately, and mail the original physical receipt to your address via tracked mail within 2-3 days.

Most customers use this service when they encounter issues with the free government online portal or simply prefer a more reliable, hassle-free option.

Success Rate on a 90 day report ... ??? Can't beat mine. I have a 15 year success rate on 90 day reports. It's not a pass or fail thing. In person is easy...it's just the wait in line that may be uncomfortable.

We still recommend trying the free official online system first. However, if you prefer visiting immigration in person, that’s certainly an option. Just keep in mind that in places like Bangkok, taxi fares alone can sometimes cost more than using our service, depending on where you live.

We mentioned our 100% success rate because many agencies submit 90-day reports online on behalf of their clients, which can sometimes result in rejections. As you correctly pointed out, the only way to consistently achieve a 100% success rate is to submit every report in person, which is exactly what we do.

We have over 20 years of experience and have successfully handled tens of thousands of 90-day reports. 😉

You might want to read the message you got again. You must report in person the first time when you enter Thailand. You left, and then returned, and therefore have not done your first report in person.
