Why did my 90-day report get rejected even though I met the deadline after a recent exit?

So here's a strange one. I do my 90-day report online.

I did some shopping in Tachileik in June and have a Landing Card in my passport stamped 28 JUN 23.

But I got an email reminder from Immi saying:

"Your receipt for notification of "STAYING LONGER THAN 90 DAYS" will be due on 23/08/2023."

.... which was my due date 90 days from my PREVIOUS arrival.

So I duly submitted a report and it got rejected (very nicely I thought) with:

"This is too early. Start counting 90 days from the date of arrival."

Since I'm flying out of Bangkok on the 23rd, I'm not worried about it per se, but it does show that there is a bit of a disconnect between the two systems.....

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user reported an issue with the Thai 90-day online reporting system after a trip to Tachileik, which resulted in the system sending an incorrect notification about their reporting due date. Despite having exited the country, the user faced rejection for their report submitted too early and learned that they need to personally keep track of their 90-day schedule due to the disconnect between the online system and entry/exit data.

ATTENTION MEMBERS, if you use the online system for 90 day reporting and exit/re-enter the country YOU have to count when your next report is due, the system WILL NOT KNOW and you'll get an email saying it's due when it is not..

to add to this - I was told by a few people that the online system would not accept an online 90-day report after a trip abroad because the dates wouldn't match on the online system. However, I was successfully able to do an online 90-day report after a trip abroad.

thats the 'old' 90 day online system, which failed more often than it worked.. the new 90 day system seems to be much more consistent (not failed me yet, with travels and others)..

Lots of folks seemed to have tried the old system then given up assuming it never improved.

@Paul **********
yep the OLD system would not allow it if you came back in but the NEW system (which has been running now a good long while) WILL let you pick right up where you left off when you enter the country

(as long as you have a TM30 filed at the address you're using for the 90 day reporting) ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thank for the information. Does that mean you need to file the TM30 after you return from abroad, even if you are returning to the same address? I thought they had relaxed these rules a bit, but it seems that immigration are asking for the TM30 again now. This is for Bangkok.

Bangkok still asks for it, but very easy to do using the app

whether you do or don't is between you and the immigration office you deal with..

There are 80 offices with 80+ different ideas and ways they think it should be done.

IF you don't file a new one when you come back and the 90 day report still goes thru I'd say you're fine..

Not a strange one at all.

The online 90 day reporting system is NOT thai'd ๐Ÿ˜ฎ err tied in to the entry/exit data base so they have no idea you exited the country (and doing some shopping in Tachileik IS exiting thailand and enter burma :P)

The ONLINE system sends a reminder out based on the last 90 day report you did online.

YOU are the one who has to count on your own 89 days from the date you last entered the country to know when your next 90 day report is due..

If you entered on Jun 28 your next 90 day report is due Sept 25th <- you can file up to 2 weeks before and down until that date online

so was he too early for 23Aug date of when his previous report was due, had he not left the country? Or are the two systems tied, but only after it tries to process the report?

The 23rd Aug was the 90 days after my previous exit/entry (a trip to Pnomh Penh). When I reentered at Mae Sai, the Immigration system stored 28 Jun as my arrival date, so my new reporting date is September.

The TM47 system has no record of that arrival, as it doesn't pull your arrival date from the Immigration system.

@Kevin **********
yes, I understood that. I was curious how the "system" knew you were too early if it couldn't pull the arrival data. Todd gave a good explanation that made sense.

I'm guessing the person who reviewed it looked in the Immigration system. The really polite and informative message suggested it was not computer generated ๐Ÿ˜

I forgot for a moment this is Thailand and it didn't make sense that the electronic part wouldn't be linked to data that they clearly have access to, only manually. The amount of cost and effort to have that electronically tied is so minimal compared to the payback. But this is Thailand.๐Ÿ˜„

@Wylie ******
Precisely my thoughts ๐Ÿ˜

@Wylie ******
he exited and entered the country DURING a 90 day report cycle, but the 90 day online data base doesn't track entry/exits. A PERSON actually approves or rejects those online 90 day reports and they saw he'd entered the country Jun 28th

Well since I'm flying out, it will slip back even further ๐Ÿ˜

But yes, it's interesting to note that the immigration computer that holds your entry/exit data is not linked with the TM47 system.

I could comment further but I think "thai logic" suffices.
