I’m a US citizen now in Philippines. Heading to Thailand beginning of December. Got online, all my paperwork together, and tried to apply for a 60 day e-visa. I was denied. Was that because I was in Philippines or is there something else going on I should be aware of?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a US citizen currently in the Philippines, attempted to apply for a 60-day e-visa for Thailand but was denied. Responses indicate that the denial may be due to the fact that the Thai embassy in the Philippines does not support e-visa applications, and the user must apply in-person at the embassy or enter Thailand visa-exempt for 30 days, with an option to extend for another 30 days.

Thanks to all. I’ll do a 30 day on arrival and an extension. Was just hoping to get an additional 30 before having to do a run to the border.

i think you can take 30 days free on arrival and extend another 30 for 1900 baht.. probably easier that way.

Would it work if you used a vpn?

the system doesn't track IP addresses. But when you submit a plane ticket from Philippines to Thailand it's pretty obvious you're not in the US

You can do 30 day exempt and get 30 extension.

You can apply for a visa in Manila, or you used to be able to.

I have applied for eVisa from Thai Embassy Washington and LA, while not being in the US.

You apply for a Visa in the country you are currently in and the eVisa syatem is not available to most of SE Asia. Try the Royal Thai Embassy Manilla website for requirements.

The Thai embassy in Philippines does not support evisa. You must apply through the embassy where you are at physically, so you cannot apply through an embassy in the United States because you are not in the United States. You would either need to apply in person at the Thai embassy in the Philippines or travel without a visa and enter as visa exempt with a 30 day stamp.
