Why should I trust users who show their identity when discussing visa experiences in Thailand?

To anyone confused by this information posted in this group let me give you a clue. Focus more on the people commenting who are showing their face. You can go to jail for posting inaccurate information about Thailand online. Ignore the anon posts and focus on the ones who have a CLEAR identity. Those are the people who are confident in what they’re saying and experience and are willing to show their face. The other accounts can be old expats that don’t want ppl in a country that’s not even their own or shady agents try to get people to pay them three times the DTV fee to get in Thailand. Trust more in people telling their personal experience with a confirmed account and not an anonymous account or a troll account. 💯 I am posting this because I got my DTV visa and before anonymous accounts had me concerned with everything from you need $50k in the bank to they no longer issuing DTVs from Vietnam. All kinds on non sense. Majority of the time it’s not even Thai troll accounts. It’s old expats

TLDR : Answer Summary
In discussions regarding visa advice for Thailand, it's essential to focus on contributors who openly share their identities and experiences, as their insights are usually more reliable. The original message warns against trusting anonymous posts, suggesting that they may lead to misinformation regarding visa requirements like the DTV. Several commenters echo this sentiment while emphasizing the importance of thorough research and considering all perspectives, even from those who may remain anonymous for privacy reasons.

Well I dont trust anyone who locks their profile and uses unreal profile photos.

In saying that I choose to post this way because the subject of visas and the dealings with governmental agencies can or might influence the decision making process during the application making process.

Have you considered contacting the site admin to see if you can become a moderator?

Focus on people with relevant arguments based on what the law actually says (not what it doesn't!). A name has nothing to do with the relevance of an argument... Balance all viewpoints, even those you disagree with. It is too easy to shout at people who post what you dislike and praise those who post what you agree with. There are wrongs on both sides, and putting everyone in the same basket makes no sense.

Nah, I imagine anyone with purposes you listed would simply make a new fb account with not their photos to appear legit and post. It's easy. People going anon have legitimate reasons more often than not. For me personally, FB is the problem for not caring about people's privacy - why would it share my posts with all my friend list who aren't even in this group? I don't want to announce to whole world what I am planning or thinking about, it's such an invasion of privacy. If group was private, or you could select if you want your post shared to timeline, then I would have no problem posting without nickname.

Just do your own due diligence regardless! I think it would be helpful to provide that anonymous post of $50k requirements (from which embassy) and Vietnam is no longer issuing DTVs rather than just giving examples.

Also people who paid for their elite visas, might be a little bit disappointed... DTV was published 2months before I was facing forced purchasing of the elite visa because of my years history with exempts and ED... So I got really lucky :)

I'm currently writing a post that is factual and referenced with the relevant information with the DTV, that hopefully becomes a pinned post on this page. The absolute garbage coming from the anon people in here is astounding, and unfortunately people are basing life decisions on that nonsense.

My background is working for state and federal government enforcing and interpreting legislation regulations and laws, and upholding or challenging those in court if need be.

"My background is working for state and federal government enforcing and interpreting legislation regulations and laws, and upholding or challenging those in court if need be." 😂 Yeah, and you’ve been in Thailand for only a couple of months so far. You’ll write an article to show everyone how things should work in Thailand according to your own vision. Pompous at best. You may understand that Thailand isn’t your country, so applying your principles here isn’t compatible. If you want to gain some credibility, bring an immigration officer onto a YouTube channel and ask your questions though that wouldn’t happen anyway, since the system is what it is.

What is the problem?

Believe it or not, if you manage to keep breathing you might get old.

some people, like me, managed to do that while living their dream.

I'm in Thailand for 23 years, had many experiences with Immigration and had the luck to sit down with them during a seminar. Made some friends who update me with latest requirements and I comment to help all those with questions.

Experience and knowlegde does not come with birth, so please do not call us old expats and trolls, if you keep breathing, you might be one in the eyes of younger people.

There's way too many bored pensioners on here. Some are helpful but most are drunkards who want the DTV cancelled.

Problem??? I’m not sure what you’re reading and it seems like you’re telling on yourself. There IS no problem. Unless you’re on here passing false knowledge so ppl don’t come to Thailand because it’s not YOUR country you have no problem and no RIGHT to deter people from coming. If that’s NOT you then why are you on here complaining? What’s the problem?

NO, but it might be in the eyes of snowflakes and anonymous participants and some other trolls who do not like rules and regulations.

Even when some elderly experienced people do use a nickname or anonymous, it is not nice to call them trolls. As i write, keep breating and you become a troll

Thanks for the heads up, so lucky we have moderators like you letting us know how things work and why anyone would not want to be identified on a visa page.
