Hi Aleksey. I asked Grok to give me a check list and template. It was very efficient. It analysed all the chats (including this one and some Reddit posts within the last year) for the general info, common mistakes people reported, and the documents asked for in addition to the ones outlined in the application, as well as London-specific (where I'm applying). It's actually for my husband, as he's really busy, but I got the docs together and he sent it off. He's a freelance magazine journalist and editor, so he needed to get a portfolio together of work he's done, LinkedIn, etc. He has an online portfolio that he's had up for years, and hosts a lot of more historical and recent (last week) work. Some of the samples were screenshot, but he also included a covering letter to one collated PDF which had links to his portfolio and LinkedIn presence.
He submitted 8 months of bank statements cross referencing highlighted payments from various clients with his invoices. These also linked to work on his website. He stated in the letter that he has no Thai clients, or business with Thai companies in or out of the Kingdom. The last three statements were highlighted for the balance of 11,000 GBP. The page numbers for the balance were also put under the table.
The pages were all numbered in two separate PDFs, and an index included at the front of each. One PDF was the bank statements and table cross referencing pages for invoice numbers (on separate doc), and correct page for statement, and the other was covering letter, invoices, screenshots of LinkedIn and finally PDFs of work colllated onto one doc. this was done on Adobe Acrobat. The most time consuming single thing was page number cross checking. I went over it with a fine tooth comb so it was easy for the officials. Due to the high volume of bank statements, there were over a hundred pages. Had to compress the portfolio as they were image heavy, and the limit is 3MB. You may not have this problem.
Grok did the template for the covering letter and table, which I copied into a Word doc. The only thing I fell down on was the photo of my husband and the passport. The photo had a cream background not white, and the size was slightly off. The passport image wasn't sharp enough for them. I emailed them after 11 days to ask a timeline, and got the extra doc request shortly after, so fingers crossed the rest was okay. By far the most time heavy overall part was downloading invoices, bank statements, and getting together the portfolio. They are s**t hot on ensuring you aren't taking any Thailand-based work, apparently, and understandably so, so just give them what they want to understand that you're not doing that, and don't need to do that.
Good luck, and let us know how you do. My husband's application was submitted on May 29 May, doc request was 11 June, and now back in doom loop of waiting, waiting…
Edit: I forgot to say, he also included his most recent tax return issued by the UK's HMRC. Also, my husband is freelance so didn't/couldn't include a letter from his 'employer', as its himself! If you work for a company, get a digital letter from them saying that they are aware you work abroad/remotely for them, and this will continue. Just dot all your 'i's and cross all the 't's, although that's no good in Cyrillic! 😄 Again, good luck! Where are you hoping to live?
