Why is my visa application taking so long at the Thai Embassy in Brussels?

waiting since 29/9, applied in Brussels, don't understand why it takes so long while all documents are provided, also it's weird they could be asking for additional documents instead of requiring them during the initial upload, that would save so much time, anyways, hope the wait will be over soon...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user expresses frustration about the long wait for their visa application since September 29 at the Thai Embassy in Brussels, questioning why all documents were not requested initially to avoid delays. Comments reveal that other users have experienced similar delays in various European embassies, suggesting that public holidays in Thailand may impact processing times. Advice includes the importance of understanding embassy procedures and the implications of additional document requests.

I waited nearly 3 weeks in Munich as well (last month). These EU embassies are super slow somehow

There's a lot of public holidays in Thailand this month.

Expect delays

If you do a search in this group, it seems they are pretty consistent in taking a month. Someone posted that they applied on July 10th and got approved Aug 13th.

You could have started by reading and understanding the Thai Embassy Brussel website, then it would have come as no surprise to you.

Remember requests for additional documents resets the clock to zero

you're funny, it seems to be your day job to paste this comment under every post lol and by the way, their webpage clearly states 10 days after complete application is received so guess what, since they haven't requested any additional docs they're well past their own deadline so calm down with your "read embassy page" posts it's silly, I just wrote my post to kill time on the way to work and complain a bit, all fine, I'll keep waiting

Anonymous participant I am curious, where did you see 10 days? I see that they suggest a minimum of 3 weeks but also say it can take 4-5 weeks during high season.

Anonymous participant 320 even if it was 10 days to process, that would be 10 business days (not weekends and holidays) and usually doesn’t include day of submission. Since Monday was a holiday, today is the 10th buisness day after day of submission.

Anonymous participant submission day (29th doesn’t count) & yesterday was a holiday. That being said, they say 3-5 weeks which is 15-25 buisness days

Anonieme deelnemer maybe you missed the word "expected"

Then you should have applied at a Embassy with quicker visa processing times.

Anonymous participant Best wishes for your success in getting the DTV visa. Belgium Thai Embassy has been reported as being slow and difficult. SAME for the Netherlands.

Anonymous participant "It is way too long"... You're applying for a very affordable 5-year visa. Be patient. Non-immigrant visas usually take weeks to be renewed and these last for a year only. If you need faster processing, get a plane ticket for a neighboring asian country.

Anonymous participant 320 THEIR FAQ
Anonymous ******************
Anonymous participant - Yes, in most cases they use terms that make it vague, like “in general”, etc. The bullet right after 10 days states you need to apply at least a month in advance of travel, and then the next states that for some it might take three months to get the visa. November and December are beginning of the high season and therefore, the high season timeframes might be in play. Regardless of which one you look at, you are still on the short/early side of things

Then you can not read.

That’s why it is necessary to repeat that people should start by reading the Thai embassy website

“VISA PROCESSING TIME (4 - 5 WEEKS DURING HIGH SEASON)

Applicants are recommended to apply for the visa in advance, at least a minimum of 3 weeks and maximum 8 weeks before the expected date of your departure because the day of approval is the starting date of your visa validity.

The application will be considered only once you have completed the submission of all required documents. The Embassy reserves the right to grant an appropriate visa without prior notice.

**The Embassy will not take any responsibility if your visa is issued before/after your planned departure date because the day of approval is the starting date of your visa validity.**”
