Once again...thanks for the chat last night. I learned a lot... (I think) ....kkkk I posted a few videos of where I am in Brazil, but I think the admins didn't accept them. Oh well. I will take the advice, support, and warnings of the members seriously...but I am jumping soon. Either way, I imagine I will survive. After watching thousands of videos about life in Asia since covid began and until now...I am amazed at the number of old men who choose to live there. I think I am somewhat of an anomaly here in Brazil. Of course, there are more of us 'walking dead' scattered about here, but it seems that Aisa is a magnet. I wonder why?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion reflects on a person's experience and observations regarding the allure of Asia, especially Thailand, for older expatriates. Reasons cited include safety, low cost of living, good healthcare, large expat communities, and the cultural dynamics that attract older men, often due to relationships with younger locals. The conversation also highlights the challenges of understanding visa regulations for expatriates considering relocation.

For those that didn’t enjoy a host of conversations with Ed Child’s yesterday. Basically started with inquiries about living in Thailand and the confusing visa opportunities and paperwork. The results were fun and interesting. The refreshing thing….almost zero trolls.

I would also like to thank Ed Child’s for such a heartfelt response. All the best to you sir.

Thailand's popular as it's a very safe place to live, low cost of living with good quality healthcare, large expat communities and lots of young women who like older foreigners (money).

given the poverty among Thais…It also gives young women opportunities to have a better life, grow and make a better future. Older men in many ways have a lot to offer, knowledgeable, experienced, need and want companionship.

not interested, in the slightest, of going anywhere near 'that' activity. I prefer women closer to my age.

"young" is subjective. 50-60 can be young to a 70yo

I know! Somehow...there are old people all over the world! Not a clue as how that happened! I was in Thailand twice....exactly 52 years ago.

"lots of young women who like older (foreigners) men" not just exclusive for Thailand, there are plenty of them in the US😂

Brazilian women are about the same, depending on the neighborhood you hang out in. I think Thailand is a bit more 'obvious', but all that sheet is here too.

Well after reading it again I would answer because Brasil is dangerous and Thailand not

I don't want to be express abducted or being hold at gun point if I behave like a foolish tourist😅

I've been here for 20 years and... somehow...never been abducted or seen a gun. The unfortunate truth is that some people insist on simplifications and generalizations. But, you are right, Thailand is 'generally' safer than Brazil. Of course, if you choose to come down, I will point you right to the worst favela in RJ and tell you it is a 'must see' for tourists. kkkk (be sure to bring your iPhone for the fantastic views of Guanabara Bay). I have had many Brazilan friends who have been in Thailand and highly recommend it AND say it is safer. Just watch the generalizations if you don't have a clue. Deal?

@Ed *******
Dude but I do have a clue.

I can walk drunk 3am Bangkok, Pattaya, Buriram or Patong.

Not a good idea doing so in Rio, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte or whatever...

The chances of getting killed are very real and high.

It's not generalizatiins period

It's facts

So don't tell me nothing about no deal 🆗️?

and you, my friend, are an ignorant turd-ball. Move to Egypt, there is a beetle waiting for you.

Marc...you are just plain wrong, and you ARE generalizing unless you tell me you HAVE walked around Brazil drunk. I don't drink, so I cannot report on 'my' facts. You might have noticed that I admitted that Thailand is 'generally' considered safer than Brazil. I am not arguing that point. At the same time, I would walk alone in Nova Friburgo anytime of the day or night and feel perfectly comfortable. (not drunk). I just hate saying it, but you are clueless. If I were planning on staying here longer, I would invite you down and show you around. The chances of getting killed IF you wander into a Favela when the military police (very corrupt) are making a raid are pretty high...but walking around in Copacabana with some local company...na. Been there? done It? Until you have...don't tell me what kind of clue you have. pftt.
Marc ********
@Ed *******
you are a 🤡

everybody knows Brasil is pretty dangerous. It's not a secret or insider knowledge.

If you behave careless and stupid you will lose your life period.

In Thailand most likely doing so nothing will happen to you. 99.9% nobody will assault you. Regardless where you go.

So don't tell me BS in my ears
