TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around recommendations for banks in Thailand for individuals with a NON-O Visa, particularly for retirement purposes. Many commenters advise against Bangkok Bank due to recent issues with account closures and recommend alternatives like Kasikorn Bank and Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), noting that experiences can vary by branch. The consensus suggests that customers should be prepared with necessary documents like a passport, lease agreement, and possibly a residency certificate, and may have to visit multiple branches to find one with suitable service.

Bangkok Bank has recently faced significant issues, primarily centering on the widespread, unannounced freezing of accounts for foreign nationals and some Thai citizens.
Kasikorn or SCB they didn't need residency cert when I was opening the acct ....just my passport with the nonO stamp and lease agreement hop around to the next branch if encounter problems...the same bank but different branch might have slightly different requirements (some are more strict and some lenient)
Kasikorn ,I've been with them a year with no problems ,im also with bangkok bank 3 years also no problems but a lot of reports of people having accounts closed so I opened kasicorn as a backup๐
