TLDR : Answer Summary
Nepalese nationals seeking to obtain a Thai visa from neighboring countries face challenges, as many South Asians, including Nepalese, are often required to return to their home country to apply for a visa. Specifically, the Thai MFA has indicated that certain nationalities must apply for visas only at designated Thai embassies or consulates in their home or residence countries. Users also noted that the consulate in Laos does not process visa applications for Nepalese. Clarification on the type of visa desired (e.g., Tourist Visa, Non B Visa) can influence the application process but options may be limited.

Country names are not clearly listed but Thai MFA says "Nationals of certain countries are required to apply for a visa only at the Thai Embassy or Consulate-General in their home/residence country or at the designated Thai Embassy..."

The only down side to using the main Ministry of Foreign Affairs website to tell who can get a visa where is; different consulates have different countries that can or can't get a visa from them. It's not as cut and dried as the MFA makes it seem.

Here's the vientiane list of countries which can't get visas and it's different from the Kuala Lumpur list.

Far as I know, all South Asians have to go back to their home country for any kind of Thai visa unless they hold some sort of residency in the country they are applying.

By South Asia, I meant Indian Subcontinent. It is not that broad a brush :)

Umm what countries do you include in that broad brush statement South Asians :O

Singaporeans, Japanese, Koreans, Hong Kong-esians and others don't need to do that. :/

It seems like the thai consulate in Kuala Lumpur also lists Nepal as a place you can't get visas for thailand from.

Let's see if someone will weigh in and let you know which thai consulate in a nearby country people from Nepal can go to.
