TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the appropriate time for a visa run for them and their wife, whose visas are valid until March 1. Community members suggested that they could apply for a one-time 30-day extension at Immigration for a fee. Additionally, they discussed the option of a 'border bounce' to obtain another 45-day stamp but noted specific requirements and limits on entries based on the time of year and suggested consulting local immigration offices for precise guidelines.

If you tell us what the country of origin of your passport is and what kind of visa you want to apply for during your visa run, we might share some thoughts about it.

You can do 2 LAND BORDER entries into Thailand EACH CALENDAR YEAR.

Thru March 31 gets you 45 days stamp

From April 1 it's 30 days unless extended.

Suggest you use an experienced border run service company in your area to take you to do the BORDER BOUNCE with SAME day return.

Let's start ALL over...

I will assume that you ARRIVED into Thailand as VISA EXEMPT entry... Which you received 45 day stamp on arrival...

You can go to your Thai Immigration office and obtain a one time 30 Day extension of stay for 1900 Thai baht.

After that you could look at doing a BORDER BOUNCE to obtain another 45 days stamp as Visa Exempt.

The 30 days are ADDED to your current ending date in your passport. So you do not lose any days by going early for extension.

Check with your Thai Immigration office for the time in which you can apply.

Most allow within 30 days, BUT Jomtien Immigration,as example, asks you to apply during the week PRIOR to your current ending date

Here are the common found requirements for the 30 day extension of stay...

You can get an extenmsion of 30 days from Immigration for 1,900 thb each. When that expires you will need to leave the kingdome by land or air.
