What are the best options for doing a border run from Chiang Mai as a tourist with an expiring visa?
Hi I am looking to do a border run as my tourist visa is due to expire on the 23rd March. Any suggestions of the best thing to do for this? I'm based in chiang mai currently

I take it you have a single-entry Tourist Visa not the multi-entry

Savanakhet immigration is the most visa friendliest of all Asia.
Cross the bridge at Mukdahan and a tuk tuk costs 150 baht to the office. A hotel for the night near immigration is around 400 baht.

There are plenty of better places to stay in town than some drab hotel near the border, but your advice is good for those short on time and who aren't very picky. I personally prefer staying in the tourist areas as the quality of accommodation and services is superior.Stephen *******************
