TLDR : Answer Summary
For your flight on December 23, 2021, you need to get your RT-PCR test done 72 hours before departure, meaning the test should be conducted no earlier than December 20 at 7:25 AM. If you are transiting through Singapore, the requirement is 48 hours before departure. It's important to confirm that the test result is received within this timeframe, and it's generally best practice to conduct the test as close to the departure time as possible without exceeding the time limit.

Most Thai people work 6 days a week -I think some Govt workers have the luxury of a 5 day week.😄

I have had conflicting advice regarding this. Is it 72 hours from when the test is carried out, or from when the results are received?

From the Washington DC embassy: 10) What type of COVID test is needed?
Upon checking in at the departure airport, the approved applicant is required to present a medical certificate with a laboratory result using RT-PCR test indicating that COVID -19 is not detected. Such COVID-19 test result must be issued no more than 72 hours before departure.
I have just done all this and arrived in Phuket on Tuesday.
You need to get the covid test done:
within 72 hours of the time of your flight’s departure. So work it back from that. Remember! the hours are counted from the time the swab is taken, NOT the time of the result.
I’m afraid that’s not right. It’s from the time they take the swab. It’s the swab that dictates whether you have covid or not. The result is simply when you receive the information.
Hi, can I add to this…does the test have to be done and the result returned within the 72hrs? So if we fly at 7pm on a Sunday we have to do the test after 7pm on the Thursday ? Dnt want to do it wrong!
U have 72 hours B4 u check in for Ur flight. If u have a stopover it is Ur first flight. Make sure it's a RT PCR test. When I flew 3 weeks ago there was a debate going on at check in about PCR test. If u get the 48 hours test or better still same day result test u can work Ur time from that.
pardon me.. lets be clear about this rule...much confusion about it.
It IS RT-PCR test TAKEN WITHIN TWO DAYS before your flight to Singapore.
Its NOT 48 HOURS.
"Take a pre-departure Covid-19 test
Most travellers, including Singapore citizens and permanent residents, transiting through Singapore will be required to take a pre-departure Covid-19 test within two days of their flight to Singapore."
