Hello, I'm looking for clarification to which covid test I need. I understand it needs to be RT-PRC but I have found multiple tests. All ranging in result times. Some say RT some don't.

Real-time Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR)

Rapid Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR)

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)

I'm in the US if you have any recommendations on where to go.

Any clarification on exactly which test is needed and if the test results need to specifically say anything, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
To travel to Thailand, you need to take a Real-time Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test. It must be conducted within 72 hours before your departure, and your test results should explicitly mention 'RT-PCR.' Rapid PCR tests may be accepted if indicated as such on the lab report, but standard PCR tests without the 'RT' designation are likely not accepted. It's important to check the specific requirements outlined by Thai authorities as they may update guidelines.

Do not listen to others that tell you any different. I lost sleep over PCR. As long as it says PCR there is not a problem.

This option will definitely be fine:

Real-time Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR)

This option might be fine provided it says RT-PCR on the final lab report:

Rapid Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR)

This option likely won't be accepted by Thailand:

Polymerase

Chain Reaction (PCR)
