Ok so I’ve just booked a one way ticket to Bangkok from the Uk via Frankfurt with Lufthansa dated March 2nd. When should I begin to make the application for my visa etc etc and in what order should I do it all?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The best time to apply for your visa after booking a one-way ticket to Bangkok is after December 2nd, 2020, ideally in February 2021, since the Tourist Visa lasts for 90 days. It’s important to ensure that Lufthansa is an approved airline and to regularly check the embassy's updates regarding entry requirements for UK citizens, as they may change.

They ( thai immigration) wanted to send me back to oz two years ago. I came with a one way ticket no visa but had a lease agreement on my apartment in kanchanaburi. Took me 45 minutes before they stamped my passport with a 30 day visa. I went straight down to Pattaya saw my visa agent and got a new retirement visa

Check the posted dates on the embassy website. I was trying to help a friend out from the UK today and the embassy info hasn't been updated in a while and is still showing only entry requirements from last year. While most countries are allowed to apply for Single entry Tourists Visa at the moment I don't think it's permitted from the UK.

1. Check and make sure that Lufhansa is (or would be) one of the approved airlines to enter Thailand.

2. The Tourist Visa expires after 90 days. I recommend doing it sometime in February.

3. Different embassies require the paperwork to be submitted in a different order. However, they have been making changes at least once a month to the requirements.

Lufthansa is one of the approved. Checked that. Thank you for your info

I often transited BKK to Bangladesh or Laos and I have been asked at least 80% of the time for evidence of my ongoing flight. They don’t want you stuck in Thailand.

If you have a long term valid visa (a long term visa =1 year) they won't ask you anything (Non O, OA, ...), but if you don't, some airlines MIGHT ask for an outbound ticket (it's you and your luck).

But to avoid gambling, I would just recommend anyone to buy a random cheap throw away ticket to any neighboring country as your ongoing ticket, just in case you come across a joker at time of checking-in.

You don't wanna ruin your plans and buy yourself tons of headaches for such a detail, right?

in 18 years of travelling solo, I’ve never been asked yet for proof of onward travel yet. Maybe I’ve just been lucky

After 2nd December but I’d be waiting until well into the new year. Who knows what the rules will be in March
