When does the 1-year extension for a NON-O retirement visa start, and how early can I renew it?
Hello, can someone enlighten me?
1) What is the start & end date of 1 year extension based on 90 days non-O retirement visa ? Does it start from the end date of 90days non-O or the date we asked for extension ?
2) How early (how many days in advance) can we renew the second extension ?

Chris Davis the application to my 1-year extension took 25 minutes from the beginning to the finish, I walked out of the Immigration office with a new extension stamp and a new stamp for a single re-entry permit

Chris Davis depends on what immigration office you're going to. In Prachinburi I do My annual extensions in about an hour or less if they're not busy. But I've heard offices in Bangkok can take a couple of days.

Chris Davis we did ours this week on Wednesday, collect passports later today (Friday).expecting them to be stamped as "under consideration" for 30 days before fully approved

It always gets added to your current date, that's why it's called an extension. At most immigration offices you can apply for a new extension when you have 30 days or less left on your current extension, a few of the larger offices are 45 days or less

Thank you very much ! That is really helpful. If the end of extension is on 30th May, for example and I have to travel on 30th March (and not back again until November, do you think it's possible to ask for⁸ the second extension 2 or 3 months before end date?

Jenny Cha What I was told in Jomtien Immigration office is that it you need to do the extension earlier than the 'recommended' maximum then they can do it but it will start on the day it is issued not from when the current one expires so if you are leaving Thailand 2 months before the extension is due and get a new one it will start immediately and expire in 1 year from the day it's issued. As with everything to do with Immigration, if you don't follow the rules exactly then it's up to the immigration officer to interpret them and it might be different when you apply.
