The Non O retirement visa extension does not require proof of health insurance for individuals over 50. However, the individual's wife, who entered on a 60-day tourist visa, cannot obtain a Non O visa extension simply because of her marriage to the visa holder. She must first apply for a 90-day Non O visa from outside Thailand to be eligible for a subsequent extension.
