Hi all!

Quick question, when can I apply for my 30 day visa extension on the tourist visa I got on arrival?

Can I go get the extension right now or do I have to wait until the 30 days are nearly up to apply?

Many thanks โœŒ๐Ÿผ

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about when to apply for a 30-day visa extension on a tourist visa obtained upon arrival in Thailand. There are varying opinions in the comments: one suggests that the user might be referring to visa exemption instead of a tourist visa, noting that extensions can be obtained the day they arrive, barring specific locations like Pattaya and Koh Samui. Another commentator recommends applying for an extension 7 days before the current visa expires, while others clarify the differences in total duration based on the type of visa or exemption held.

For visa exempt ::

It's added on = 60 days total.

If it's actually an extension on a 60 day tourist visa; it's added on = 90 days.

After either extension, you must leave LOS.

If it's a 15 day visa on arrival; it's not possible to extend.

You say "wait until the 30 days are up" so it sounds like you're not asking about a tourist visa at all.

Tourist visa gives you 60 days on arrival and you purchase it before you come to Thailand.

You're probably talking about visa exempt which means no visa at all.

If you're applying for an extension anywhere except Pattaya and Koh Samui, you should be fine applying for your extension the day your arrive. The 2 offices I mentioned require you to only have a week left to apply.

thanks for the detailed response, yes Iโ€™m talking about the 30 day visa stamp you get when you arrive without a visa.

So I should be fine to go to the office in bangkok for my extension now? (Only been here a week)

Like many newcomers you make mistakes in terminology. You get an entry stamp not a visa stamp. A visa you pay for.

yes Bangkok allows when you have 45 days or less left.

Just make sure you go to IT Square Laksi office and get there early. They only accept 300 per day and likely hit the limit very early today since it was the first day open after 5 days. Probably a lot of people looking for extension tomorrow too
