When should I and my wife apply for a tourist visa for Thailand in January 2027?
When should me and my wife apply for a tourist visa we are arriving from the uk 4/1/2027 and staying for six weeks thanks for any advice in advance !

You don’t need to apply for a visa. You can get visa exempt and extend it. This will give you more than the 6 weeks that you need.

Applying for the tourist visa is better in every aspect. It costs less than an extension, it means your airline and immigration won't request proof of onward travel within 30 days, and you save potentially an entire day at the immigration office applying for an extension.Richie *********

Its not guaranteed, whereby a tourist visa is honoured by Thai immigration authorities. I personally wouldn't leave it to chance. An extension is totally at the discretion of the immigration officer who sits in front of you. With a fully legitimate 60 day tourist visa, you will be more likely to be accepted for a visa extension. Why take the chance to ruin your vacation?
