TLDR : Answer Summary
When entering Thailand on a tourist visa, immigration may ask for proof of funds. It is generally required to show 20,000 baht in cash or an equivalent amount in a major currency. While bank funds may suffice for visa applications at Thai consulates, cash is preferred at immigration checkpoints.

At immigration Checkpoint to enter the county you show if asked, 20.000 Thb or equivalent currency in CASH, no atm at airside.

At Thai Consulate to apply for a Visa you show copies of bank account.
