Hi all, I have a quick question: our daughter has an Non-ED visa valid until 17 November 2023. Her passport expires 6 August 2023 and the last time she flew it the entry stamp said: Admitted until 6 August 2023. After we renew her passport, which will be the exipiry date of the visa? 6 August? Or 17 November?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The expiration date of your daughter's Non-ED visa will align with the expiration date of her passport which is August 6, 2023. Although the visa is valid until November 17, 2023, since the visa extension was issued after the passport's expiration date, the New expiration date post-renewal will revert to the passport expiry. To maintain validity, apply for a new visa extension approximately 45 days before August 6.

I'm really not sure where exactly, but I believe I saw it in the immigration website - an option where you can apply to transfer the visa to new Passports. I believe it should be possible to transfer.

, you can apply for transfer stamps from old passport to a new passport for an extension. But you cannot transfer visa or entry stamp.

Get started on the new passport yesterday, it can take months.

, totally depends on the embassy. There are embassies (aka countries) that would issue passports in days order in Thailand.

And there are many others that don't. I would never let it get under six months because you cannot travel. They are cutting this one way too close.

Is that an extension based on "piggybacking" with a parent's Non-B visa or something and NOT an ed visa extension?

OR

is the mother getting an extension based on taking care of a foreign child legally going to school here?

I ask because the writing ON the extension says

นักเรียนโรงเรียนฝรั่งเศสนานาชาติกรุงเทพ <- student at French International School of Bangkok and says she's in ม.3 (Mathayom 3 grade)

BUT

on the right side it says มารดาดูแล <- mother takes care

she should have never gotten the extension issued past the expiration date of the passport 😮 it and re-entry permit from Suvarnabhumi that you got 10 days after the extension was issued are bad stamps 🙁

She should have only been given an extension until 6 Aug 2023 <- the date her passport expires (which is what that note under the entry stamp stays when she was stamped in April 14th until Aug 6th)

The real expiration date is Aug 6th, and you'd get a new passport, go move the stamps (that's when they'll catch the error) 😕

Then you'd apply for a new extension when you have 45 days or less left from Aug 6th <- that is the new expiration date (and should have been the date she was given the extension until in the first place) or any time after June 22, 🙂
