What visa should my 75-year-old father apply for to work in Bangkok?

My retired 75 year old father (Aus citizen) has been offered a job in Bangkok as a management consultant. It's a 1+1 year contract and he intends to apply for the pension when he returns to Sydney after the stint. What visa would people recommend he apply for during his time in Bangkok? He's supposed to start in Q4. Should he go for a retirement visa or get his company to apply for a work visa (is he too old for this?) Thanks ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The recommended visa for your father is a Non-B visa, which requires sponsorship from his employer. A work permit is necessary as he cannot work on a retirement visa. Several community members emphasize that he should rely on the company to arrange the work permit and discuss concerns about working at his age.

nonsense, his company has trust and faith in him. Iโ€™m 81 and still work part time, and do a lot of volunteer work. His expertise is needed.

Wait until you age, then see what attitude you have about age.

His company needs to sponsor him for a Non-B and a work permit. He cannot work on a retirement visa.

It's illegal to work without a work permit and visa that allows work. For him that would be a non-B visa. He can't get either of those things on his own, he'll need supporting documentation from the company.

A work permit is the only option. Arranged by his employer

The company should get his type B visa and work permit arranged. One of the stipulations of a retirement visa is you can not work at all.
