My partner and myself are wanting to visit Thailand in May 2025 and travel around visiting various places for approximately 6 months. Can anyone suggest the correct type of visa we should apply for before leaving Australia? Also what are the conditions surrounding whichever visa we have to have ? Many thanks in advance for advice 😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on the appropriate visa for a six-month trip to Thailand starting in May 2025. Responses include suggestions to explore the Thai embassy website, mention visa exemptions that allow for 60 days with a potential extension, and the procedure for applying through the Sydney consulate. Some comments caution about the weather during May.

I wouldn’t go in May if I was you , I know it’s cheaper and quieter but the humidity is unbearable and the mosquitoes deadly

You go through Sydney Thai consulate and apply online. Remember the visa starts the day it's issued so don't apply to soon or you eat into the 6 months valid time

I looked at profile. Said NSW that's why I replied saying You go through Sydney addressing the poster. But yes no harm to warn others, they will soon read it on the web site as well if they don't they will be rejected I guess.

Currently you can enter visa exempt for 60 days extend once only extra 30 days then zip across the border come back into Thailand and do same again that would give you 180 days. But the 60 could go back to 30 days entry stamp. MTV gives you the 60 days each time you enter plus 30 days extend is available each time as well

Australians don't need a visa currently for as I explained 60 days can enter visa exempt.

MTV is multiple entry tourist visa, every time you enter during the 6 months it's valid for you get 60 days plus can extend. Even enter the day before it expires you get the 60 days

can I only stay in Thailand 180 a year on visa exemption. I’m coming up to the end of it and am heading to a help center tomorrow.

Do you think it’s possible to apply for / change my exemption to a 1 year non b visa? I just can’t find the info
