What type of visa should I get for a 3-month stay in Thailand after having previously used a Special Tourist Visa?

Hi. I'm a UK passport holder and previously had a Special Tourist Visa from Feb 2021. I extended this to the maximum 9 months allowed and then did a couple of further COVID extensions until leaving Thailand in March 2022 to continue travelling around South East Asia.

I'm now looking to come back to Thailand in May from Vietnam. I'm considering staying in Thailand for up to 3 months before travelling onwards.

What's the best type of visa I should get for this? If I get a tourist visa or visa exemption would I be able to extend this when I need to?

Many thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK passport holder who previously held a Special Tourist Visa and COVID-related extensions is seeking advice on the best visa option for a 3-month stay in Thailand. Suggestions include obtaining a tourist visa, which allows for a 60-day stay plus a potential 30-day extension. Caution is advised regarding entry due to the traveler's past visa history, with recommendations to prepare for potential questioning by immigration.

. Get a tourist visa. And be prepared to be questioned upon your return to Thailand by Thai immigration.

As you have stayed in Thailand a long time using the STV and COVID extensions.

Be prepared with a Plan B if you are denied entry...as others who have similar Thai immigration history as yours have been denied entry recently.

Don’t enter via BKK.

If you have Covid extension stamps in your passport don't try visa exempt so you're right in getting a tourist visa.

If you want 3 months a tourist visa would be your best bet, a 60 day entry and then a 30 day extension.
