TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses options for staying in Thailand for 3 months, weighing the benefits of visa exemption versus obtaining a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). Users in the comments suggest that many passport holders can enter Thailand for 60 days without a visa, with the possibility of extending for another 30 days. There is also mention of using a multiple-entry tourist visa to extend stays longer. It is recommended that if an expat plans to stay longer and is not concerned with costs, obtaining a DTV might be the best avenue, offering a longer duration and fewer fees in the long run.

if you’re able to get the DTV just do that cause it’s good for five years. You’re allowed six months at a time and you never have to pay another fee unless you extend in country beyond the six months.

60 day visa exempt. Then go to Immigration and extend for 30 days, 1900B.

Problem solved! 😃

Depends on passport. Most countries get 60 day visa exemption & then you can go for 30 day extension

country of passport? Date of proposed travel? age?

If you only want to stay for 3 months, just come visa exempt, then either get an extension before your time is up (60 days), or go visit another country for a few days, then re enter Thailand for another 60 day exemption.

Multiple entry tourist visa ,you can stretch that to 9 months

You paid at the airport? What passport do/did you have?

I am guessing he overstayed his visa exemption and paid a fine ?

That could be a problem in the future

Passport country? So many get 60 days with no visa. And can extend for 30 days.

@Lynnette ******
can you extend in Thailand or do you have to leave the country and come back ? Dutch passport.

I would get a single entry visa for that ?

Before I was always able to extend at immigration in Thailand without leaving the country, hope it is still the same. Last few years ive only stayed two months with the 60 days on arrival but wish to stay three months again to miss winter back in Canada . 🇨🇦

so you can enter visa-exempt/ no visa for 60 days. Then extend for 30 days. It's an option.
