What steps should I follow to convert my tourist visa to a Non-B visa while transitioning to a teaching position in Thailand?

Work permit and non-b visa related

Hi

I have searched in the group but couldn’t find an answer for my specific situation.

I am here on tourist visa (native danish) but have been hired by a school to become a teacher. So now I’m in the process of getting everything ready. Translation of documents, verified copies of documents, police check and lastly MFA.

The School informed me that the visa can be done within Thailand.

My embassy has not been the biggest help but I’m looking for a guide related to the process and doing everything in the right order with the correct documents.

Has anyone done this recently and are you able to give a quick step-by-step guide? 😅

I’m a little lost in all the documents needed for the various steps (I know it might not be the same for all nationalities, but anything will help).

Thanks 🙏🏼

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, currently in Thailand on a tourist visa, has been offered a teaching position and is seeking guidance on converting their visa to a Non-Immigrant B visa and securing a work permit. Key steps include ensuring at least 15 days remain on the tourist visa, gathering required documents (like certified diplomas and transcripts), and visiting the immigration office with the school to process the visa conversion. The role of the embassy in document verification is unclear, but it seems that not all nationalities may require its assistance for the visa conversion process.

I close the comments. Nationality has nothing to do with a conversion of a Visa at the Immigration Office.

That there are different rules and regulations about how to handle documents at all the different Embassies and Consulates from other countries has NOTHING to do with Thai Visa advice.

you must have at least 15 days left on your current tourist visa to do the conversion

As your new employer told you, it is possible to convert your Tourist Visa into a Non Immigrant B visa.

Your Embassy is not needed to make this conversion or for the application of the Work Permit.

Provide the documents as asked by the school, visit with them the Immigration Office to convert your stay and stamp your passport, wait for the Work Permit and after that enjoy working.

It depends on nationality, but OP will have to certify her diploma and transcripts at her embassy. This is needed for the school to prepare the B visa documentation.

Nationality has nothing to do with conversion of the Tourist Visa into a Non Immigrant B visa.

You might be correct if you talk about the teacher license and the work permit, but that is for another forum.

Nationality will dictate what is needed to do to certify the diploma/transcripts.

UK for example can't do at an embassy. American citizens go to the US embassy to swear an affidavit that the documents are genuine and original.

thanks. But they will need to make verified copies of my passport at the Embassy - correct?

As I wrote, your Embassy is not needed to make a conversion from your stay into a Non Immigrant B visa.
