What documents do I need for a border bounce at Ranong to Myanmar?

Just wanted a little bit more clarification please; you've all been so helpful so far! Re the Ranong border bounce,we're definitely going to try this - a bit of a drive from Hua Hin but we are looking forward to seeing parts of Thailand that we haven't seen before.

My final Q is this,: I have been searching online for a list of the docs we need to have with us. I have read lots of interesting anecdotal stories but nothing particularly current . As far as I can make out, I should have the following docs with me; passport, proof of flight home, 20000thb and $10-20 dollars?

Obviously we'll need cash for the ferry and we also have our Covid certificates. Is there anything else we should have with us? We also have extra photos and copies of our passports and our proof of residence in HH. Do you think that will be enough? I know it's a long drive, but it's a little birthday trip for me. If for any reason it doesn't work,we still have time to drive to Malaysia, but we'd honestly prefer not to. Thank you again for your help and advice. ๐Ÿ˜

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post asks for clarification on the necessary documents for a border bounce from Hua Hin to Ranong and then to Myanmar. The user plans to visit for a birthday trip and has gathered some documents including a passport, proof of flight, a small amount of cash, and COVID certificates. Commments provide additional advice on requirements and experiences related to border crossings in Thailand, specifically mentioning proof of residence and the need for cash for costs associated with the border crossing.

I did a Ranong border bounce 2019. Tourist visa. Just brought my passport and wallet. Over and back, all done in an hour or 2. Why do you need proof of covid and residence?? I understand about it being more strict re return flight now.

just wanted to make sure we had everything with us, just in case! Did you get the tourist visa on arrival? We don't intend to stay overnight. Thank you for responding. ๐Ÿ™

I had a multi-entry tourist visa and Ranong was one of my border bounces.

Can't help with visa advice but try to go to Ko Chang and Koh Phayam. Beautiful quiet islands, especially Chang.

Thank you so much for that info. If we just want to do it in one day, will that be ok? And I take it our METV will still ensure we get the required 60 days extension? Thank you so much again for your help.

Yes you need return flight 20 000 b and proof of residence for Thai immigration if you don t have you ask the local agent he will arrange everything for you for 1800b including the boat 2 ways for Myanmar - it s not a ferry but long tail boat

Another option is to go to the Adaman hotel pier the price is 2500 all including by speed boat

For Myanmar immigration you need copy of your passport and 10 USD ( not damaged ) and tip to the guy who will welcome you

You will get 15days visa but you have to stay in a area of 10km around Kawthaung

For visiting the Mergui Island you need an e-visa

We've actually done that previously and don't particularly want to visit Cambodia again, this time.( We have been a few times before and loved it). But we also don't want to have to drive to BKK. This sounded a bit different and interesting but like I said, if it doesn't work out we have allowed ourselves enough time to go to Malaysia. Thank you.

You can check this post. Obviously I'm not going to vouch for this person as I don't know them but they're supposedly a local with local information.

if you want to dig through old posts using the search feature, there was a post 1-2 weeks ago about that border crossing and someone in the comments had mentioned doing it recently as well.

I think I saw that; it was more the actual cost and docs required. We want to make sure we're properly prepared. Thanks again ๐Ÿ‘
