What should I know about re-entering Thailand with a DTV visa after traveling abroad?

Just returned to Phuket airport after 1 week holiday to Japan on DTV visa…(UK citizen)

It’s about my 5th re entry

The only thing which changed this time, is that they asked to see the actual Visa on my phone with QR code

No asking of funds or anything like that or more questions this time….

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK citizen shares their experience re-entering Thailand through Phuket airport on a DTV visa after a week's holiday in Japan. They noted a change in the process requiring them to show the visa with a QR code on their phone, but there were no additional inquiries regarding funds or other questions this time. Comments from other users suggest printing out the visa for easier presentation during re-entry.

You should print out the visa and hand it over with your passport

it does technically say to print out the visa but you’d be unlucky if they caused issues over it being in your phone only. I just prefer to be safe when it comes to immigration

I've seen examples of people not handing over their visa with their passport being stamped in visa exempt for 60 days.

EVERYTHING is on their computer system, they can defintely see what visa you have …you don’t even have to tell them. Before when I mentioned I had a DTV, the IO got kind of annoyed and was…”yeah I can see already what visa you have in the system”,

It was pretty good and cold. Japan is a lot on fun on the first trip but the novelty wears off after you visit a few times

Anonymous participant thanks for the reply! I haven't been yet and have been considering going to visit. If you don't mind answering, how are prices currently for accomodations and food? I would be bringing my wife and son with me and we currently live in Chiang Mai.

If it’s first time I defintely recommend it. Accomdation and hotel rooms are generally really small and cramped though, expect to pay 1000-2000 baht a night at least for a small double room . Food and eating out is a bit more expensive than Thailand…you can find a lot Shabu shabu…expect to pay about 1000 baht to get enough food for three people

I would recommend going Nagoya > Takayama (for skiing) > Osaka (for universal studios> back to Nagoya
