I’m doing first entry on DTV soft power Muay Thai in suvarnabhumi airport

I’m just wondering if I’m in a situation where I risk being denied entry

And sorry, but I have been denied entry in Phuket international airport even when I had a education visa in hand before (I was told I was denied entry, and after 1 hour of waiting I then ended up being let in for a bribe to immigration)

That’s why I’m kind of traumatized, and I don’t want that happening again.

My visa history now:

2023: 5 weeks

2024: 6 months (2 borderruns)

2025: 5 months (1 borderrun)

2026: 4 months ED visa (I left 15. may)

Norwegian citizen, 23 years old, active Muay Thai fighter

I’m now in my home country, entering again on the soft power Muay Thai visa in start of September

Should I be worried?

I appreciate helpful answers🙏🏼
Answer summary
The user is concerned about being denied entry into Thailand upon returning on a DTV (Digital Nomad) soft power Muay Thai visa due to a past experience of being denied entry at Phuket International Airport, despite holding an education visa. They share their visa history and seek reassurance about their upcoming entry at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Commenters advise on the importance of having the DTV visa and sufficient cash, caution about strict immigration checks, and the need to prepare for potential questions at immigration.

You’ll be okay. Officer hardass exists in every country passport control but is a rare event. It’s just part of traveling. Have your documents ready just in case (probs won’t need em though) and don’t let ‘em scam you for bribe money ✌️ also rare

BKK currently still on high alert of arrival screening for who has previous visa history records from Thailand. So if you worrying you know something might be not in perfect order, and BKK now interview almost everyone who has any reason for extra check.

No because it’s legal to do 2 extensions at immigration and 2 border runs per CALENDAR year.

How can it be bad?

Did you put your own stamps? 😂

It’s 2026 … how can 2024-2025 be calculated into 2026?

Makes no sense whatsoever

it wasn’t legal in immigration eyes. As I said I was denied entry, even with a ED visa

hsistory of 2024 and 2025 will be on the records of Immigration. Extentions and border runs are legal, working until Immigration stops you.

Just to be on the safe side make sure you have at least bt20,000, or the equivalent in cash when you enter. The dtv is a tourist visa, and having bt20,000 in cash on your person is a requirement, if they want to hassle you.

HumbleCaterpillar6452 when entering, if they are going to hassle you, only the cash you have on you counts. They don't look at bankbooks.

HumbleCaterpillar6452 that Ed Visa has been under crackdown by Thai Immigration Officers for over a year. With 10,000 Ed Visas being cancelled by Thai Immigration Officers for fraud last year. Leaving Thailand with the Ed Visa in your passport and seek to reenter is why you were DENIED ENTRY. Thai Immigration Officers expect you to be attending classes and passing tests. Not traveling outside of Thailand during the Ed Visa course of study.

That said...

You NOW have the DTV visa.

On arrival, be prepared for questions. And have with you your DTV Visa Application documents. Saying that you are looking forward to your Muay Thai training. And during the number of months for which you have obtained the DTV for Muay Thai training, be sure to actively participate in the training AND don't leave Thailand until the number of months you signed up for has been completed.

Good Luck 🍀

HumbleCaterpillar6452 Yes, you made choices in life.

a Visa does NOT guarentee entry.

Dispossessed_flipflop Stop reading and reacting.

Telling me to do things is not working.

I do not like flip flops, so for sure I will not do whatever a flip flop is telling me.

At what point in your life did you realize you had no friends and replaced it with this? For your own sake, find something better to do with your time than look down your nose at people on a visa forum of all places. It’s pathetic.

Dispossessed_flipflop thanks,, I do not like flip flops, that was my choice.

Why did you have to bring this into this topic about his entry?

Or do you have no clue about visa and entry, but feeling abused as every body steps on you?
