TLDR : Answer Summary
The best response for the 'purpose of travel' when entering Thailand with a DTV visa for soft power Muay Thai is to categorize it as 'tourism' according to multiple community suggestions. While some individuals mentioned 'holiday' or 'sports' as alternatives, the consensus points towards tourism as a suitable and safe choice for visa purposes.

Ken Watson I love how the DTV is winding up all these salty pensioners who think only they should be allowed here.

A 6 month course will get you a 5 year visa. No checks on attendance later on. You can also work remotely if you want.

no you need to have signed up for a minimum of 6 months with a Muay Thai school, preferably longer, in order to apply for a DTV visa under the Muay Thai option. But if you intend to work remotely from Thailand you have to use the workation option
