Answer summary
Several comments discuss reasons for visa denial when entering Thailand, emphasizing that having a visa does not guarantee entry. The conversation centers around the DTV (Digital Tourist Visa) and its acceptance as a potential solution for past issues related to overstay or multiple border runs. It's highlighted that final entry decisions lie with immigration officers, who may consider past immigration history, visa status, and other documentation when deciding whether to allow entry. The importance of correctly presenting documents and understanding that embassies and immigration operate independently is also discussed.

Why were you denied?

Depends on why your entry was denied. If you have some doubtfull entries in the immigration data base (some countries hv interconnected data bases), then no visa will solve that problem

If your DTV is accepted I don’t think you would have any problems entering.

If you were just denied entry because you've been using too many visa exemptions, extensions, and border runs, you should be fine with the DTV. Immigration have been telling people to get a visa and suggesting the DTV in that situation.

An Ambassador cannot overrule immigration on entry decisions. It states specifically on the MFA website that a visa does not guarantee admission, and the final decision is down to the immigration officer.

if the give you the DTV It's because they have checked the 8nfo that he asks you to present yourself, otrement they already refuse you at the embassy or if they don't have all the documents they ask you for them it's not for nothing that sometimes it takes more than 1 month to get the famous sesam, you think that the emissionion to bkk when you arrive he has time to go and contolate if your 500 mil on your And if you really have a job, a house or a house? It's the job of the cj l amper

Cheker all this information, it's a team effort, why he should refuse you entry if your all the paper in order...

DTV_BegPecker You're probably right, I don't know and don't want to say something, anyway they all have your historial on their compuiter When you pass the emigration control, they know everything Al Ready. It must be quite rare that he refuses to admit a visa holder, well I have never heard his in the 40 years that I come and live in Thailand, that he refuses people who have an entry visa it is already more frequent or because they have no money on them, No tiket back, or because in the past they had overstay, ect.. But it's my experience, so after that I don't know 👌🙏

DTV_BegPecker Plus it seems to be that the MFA does not have access to your full immigration record. There may be things there that preclude your entry even with any type of visa.

Ok, your response isn’t easy to understand, but Greg is correct. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a different government agency than the Bureau of Immigration and they are not even closely within the same chain of command. The embassy reviews your application and determines if you meet the requirements of the visa (have the money, the course, etc.), but immigration has final deciding power on who they let into the country. A more clear cut example, a Thai embassy can issue you an education visa to study Thai language, but immigration has a history of testing out your Thai language skills when entering to see if you are actually doing what you said you would do with the visa. There are many cases where those who clearly couldn’t speak any Thai but where supposed to be here studying Thai (that is the visa the embassy qualified them for) get turned away. It is less likely to happen compared to visa exempt but it is always a possibility
