What Should I Know About Border Bouncing with a Non-O Visa in Thailand?

Hello Fellas,

it’s my first time for a border bounce.

Current visa: Non-O, year long, multiple entry, based on Thai child. Bought in Penang.

My entry stamp says: 2nd of June. That is the last day I am allowed to stay in Thailand, which means I would have to leave latest on the 2nd, 23:59, correct?

I am following the news every day now and suspect that due to low infection rates, the borders could be reopened on 01/06, which would give me a tight schedule.

My closest border would be Myanmar at Kanchanaburi. So I would have to wait for BOTH countries to reopen the borders, otherwise hope to being covered by the amnesty and leave as soon as I hear that Myanmar and Thailand borders are reopened again. Then get a new 90 day stamp into the passport and the further process would be as usual.

Are my assumptions correct? If anybody has additional advice, go ahead.

Thanks, Frank

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is preparing for a border bounce after their Non-O visa, which allows them to stay in Thailand until June 2nd. They are seeking advice on the reopening of borders, particularly with Myanmar, and if their assumptions about the visa regulations are correct. The community confirms that if the borders reopen before their visa expires, they can exit and re-enter for a new 90-day stamp. However, if the borders remain closed, they may need to utilize the visa amnesty program or extend their stay through other means.

and at this time I believe the O/P has their answers and so in order to NOT let this thread run wild with speculation and what ifs, I think we're done. :P

In PRE COVID-19 days, you're right. If you leave after June 2, you will be on overstay, which is a 500THB fine each day. However, there is a visa amnesty program. If the borders do not open by June 2, you will go on automatic amnesty, and can stay in Thailand legally no later then July 31. Your visa will still be valid after July 31, so you can leave Thailand, enter, and get another 90 day stamp.

I'm on a similar visa, and that border is the one I will use as well. When both the Thai and the Myanmar borders reopen, use that once to bounce to get another 90 day stamp.

IF the borders don't open before your current 90 day stamp runs out you have two choices;

go on the amnesty OR go to the immigration office and get a 60 day visit thai family extension for 1900baht.

, the extension is yet another option, I am going to ask at my local IO what they prefer, in order to make sure all is good...

You are correct, IF the borders (of thailand an another country open up) BEFORE your current stamp expires you can bounce out and back and get a new 90 day entry stamp
