What should I know about applying for a marriage O visa at the Royal Thai Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City?

Ho Chi Minh - Royal Thai Consulate

I was there 2 days ago and did my O marriage Visa, paid USD 200 and got it back the very next day. However, there are 2 things I want to tell people.

1) When you pay in USD, make sure there is no writing on the bills at all, if so, they will refuse to accept them. Someone wrote 3 digit number in small format on one of my USD bills, thank god for a nice Japanese lady who had some extra cash in USD and was inside with me at the same time and was able to change the one bill for me.

2) They only allow 2-3 people inside at the time now, so be there early as each participant seems to spend approx.15 min. inside. There was a long waiting line there. I came there at 10am and was done 11:15 am, just 15 min. short of closing time.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent applicant for the O marriage visa at the Royal Thai Consulate in Ho Chi Minh shared their experience, noting the importance of using clean USD bills for payment and the need to arrive early due to limited capacity inside the consulate. They mentioned the quick processing time, receiving the visa the following day, but advised others to arrive early as each applicant takes about 15 minutes and space is limited.

The documents you need:

- Copy Wife ID both sides with her signature

- Copy Marriage Certificate both sides with her signature

- Original Marriage Certificate (just to show, you get it back)

- A letter from the wife addressed to the Consulate.

where she asked them to give me the non O visa.

- Copy of Wife Tabien Baan (House reg. book) with her signature.

- 1 Picture of yourself

I did not have to sign any of the documents and no copies of my passport needed. Fee 200 USD.

No questions asked. Friendly staff. Got the visa the next day.

She wrote my full name and her address and that I will live with her in Thailand.
