What should I include for intended departure date and address when applying for a non-immigrant O visa in Thailand?

Hi All,

I’m applying for non immigrant O visas for myself, wife and son. Mine is business, wife is dependent and son is education (he is my step son, so not eligible for dependant). I have a questions that I’m hoping for advice on. Applying for E Visas through the Thai consulate in Australia.

1) intended date of departure? We don’t plan to depart. We will apply for extensions before the 90 day initial period ends. What do I put down for the date of departure?

2) address information? We have a condo secured in Bangkok. Do I put current address in Australia as the home address? I believe I do, however it then asks, “Is your permanent address the same as your current address”. Please provide clarity.

3) My wife as a dependent? It asks for her employment details. She currently works in Australia but will not be working in Thailand. How do I answer this question?

Thanks in advance. I’m trying to ensure that I get this right to avoid delays in the process.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for non-immigrant O visas through the Thai consulate in Australia, clarify the following: 1) For departure date, indicate a date within 90 days of entering Thailand; 2) Use your current address in Australia as your home address; 3) For your wife's employment, note 'self' since she won't be working in Thailand. It's recommended to apply for your visa first, then your wife's as a dependent under the category 'staying with non-Thai family', using your marriage certificate as proof.

Always do the simplest of answers. Regardless of employment, I put “self”, address I always put the country & “departure” is what’s on the transportation ticket. Immigration is very Lax, no worries.

First off you can't apply for a non-O visa (the O means other) based on business,

It's either over 50, married to a thai, raising thai/foreign children, married to a foreigner who legally works here, etc but NOT business.

Be that as it may

𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲?

they are all 90 day single entry visas so put a time within 90 days from the date you'll ENTER thailand

𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?

use your address in Oz

𝟯) 𝗠𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁?

Apply for your VISA first get it approved then apply for her visa for the reason "staying with non-Thai family" and use the marriage certificate and your Non-O visa as proof

I was planning to submit all three at the same time. Do I definitely need to submit mine as a work visa 1st?

I mean your wife can't get HER visa until you actually HAVE your visa issued, because she's getting her visa BECAUSE she's married to a foreigner on a Non-B visa and if you apply at the same time you don't have a Non-B 😉

I would contact the consulate and ask them BUT I have seen people stagger their applications to get them to go thru getting the primary, then the piggy back, after that
