I am currently in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and I have an appointment with the Thai consulate on Monday to apply for the DTV. Have any of you already done this in Vietnam? Any advice?

You must have already submitted your application online. Subsequently they have requested you to go in for an interview. This will be to check your credibility as an applicant, as well as to verify that you are still in Vietnam.

They will ask you some questions as to why you want a DTV and cross check the information you submitted in your application. Basically they want to see if your information stacks up, and they think you are a genuine applicant. Be prepared also to be asked to log into your online banking and prove you have the funds you say you have on paper

Yes, of course, we did what was requested, and it's not a problem to show the bank accounts. My question is, what to answer about Thailand? I'll simply tell the truth, that it's a welcoming and safe country where you can live peacefully. Nothing else.

yes, tell the Embassy officer exactly why you wish to spend time in Thailand. Apart from the reason for getting your DTV, as you say, you like Thailand, its culture and people

Ho Chi Minh has been one of the more commonly used places for DTV applications lately. From what I’ve seen, the process is generally straightforward, but requirements can still vary depending on your category (workcation, soft power, etc.) and sometimes even by officer. I’d just make sure your documents are complete and easy to explain if asked.

You mean you have an interview? applications are online only. You will be asked basic questions on your application, why do you want the DTV? your plans in Thailand? prepare to show your bank balance on your phone.
