Why did Bangkok Bank freeze my account, and what requirements do they have for expats?

I’m Currently a WP holder for 1 year now and my Bangkok Bank account got frozen. They are requiring a Certified copy of your U.S. passport endorsed by the embassy. My suggestion don’t use Bangkok Bank. No other bank has that requirement.

the U.S. embassy in Bangkok does NOT offer to do a certification of one's passport. Because it is complete bullshit

actually they do. It's required for the marriage affidavit. I still have a copy of mine from my marriage. That said, Bangkok Bank seems to be unraveling fast. Ugh. I am glad I let my Bangkok Bank account go years back.

Bangkok bank used to be the most international bank. Not it’s more like Bangkok only bank. They might as well remove English speaking services too.

observe the normal requirements. Personally appear with a passport, registration form, finger print, photo is taken in the bank as well as the most important confirmation from your telephone provider. And that's all it takes.

bank should have had everything they needed when they opened the account — this is all bullsh&t!! I wouldn’t go anywhere near any branch of this bank, but maybe that’s what they want!

That wasn't the case for a long time. Now you need a mobile phone contract running in your name. And this confirmation from the provider is necessary. Then everything works fine

I think every branch is different. Also if you push back on certain things it seems they will bypass them as well.

Not only the branch. Last week I found I was now unable to transfer more than 49,999 in one day from my Bangkok Bank savings account. We went in and a cashier pointed out that this was my new maximum daily limit. Mrs wasn’t happy, we took another turn ticket and spoke to a different cashier who reinstated my previous higher limits.

They froze my account, but I heard this coming so I was in the process of changing banks. Bangkok Bank can keep my 12 baht.
