Hello, I realize this has been asked, but cannot find the answer. I was due to fly to Malaysia to to my yearly visa. Friday. This obviously is not an option. I was told from this group to go to US embassy who can assist with a letter. They were not help. Knew nothing about this letter..... What am I to do about my soon expiring visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on how to handle an expiring visa due to an inability to travel to Malaysia, compounded by inconsistency in advice received regarding assistance from the US embassy. Comments suggest exploring options for obtaining a 30-day visa exempt entry by traveling to specific border crossings in Thailand.

@Sa**
, I will try one final time.

You say you have one 30 day visa exempt entry so far this year (although it's in your old passport) which means you can get another 30 day visa exempt entry by land IF we can send you to a border that allows US passport holders to bounce out and back. (y)

IF you are in the central part of thailand you could bounce out and back at the Phu Nam Ron Border with Myanmar (as
@Lyn***
suggested) AND if you are in the south of thailand you can bounce at one of the water crossings with Myanmar in Ranong Province.

Either of those crossing points will let US passport holders bounce out and back for a 30 day visa exempt entry.

Good Luck, (y)

I tried, I truly tried to wring the information out of you that I needed so I could give you solid accurate advice on WHERE you could bounce out and back in to get a NEW 30 day visa exempt entry.

It seems you fought me every step of the way though,

and so alas, I wish you well, sincerely good luck (y)

The real question IS; do you have two 30 day visa exempt entries so far this year by land?

Nope you were NOT told to go to the US embassy, you were told to contact your consulate and SEE if they offered the letter so you could get a 30 day 'unable to travel due to covid-19" letter. Which as an american you cannot :(
