What should I do if my Non Imm B Multiple Entry Visa is expiring and international flights are still closed?

Can anyone explain this? A little long winded but bear with me. Thanks. Aussie Passport. Have a Non Imm B Multiple Entry Visa (expires mid August). Currently on Amnesty as airports closed and my 90 day stamp expired last week. Have a newly renewed Work Permit, a week ago in fact. Usually I need to leave every 90 days but my work (pre Covid-19) has me traveling often so no issues there. Before anyone comments that it is a dodgy company that gets the Non Imm B Multiple Entry Visa that is not the case. Is my company and I usually visit my family in my home country where it is relatively relaxed to sort out my visa before returning to the Kingdom. Company is legit and all taxes and fees are up to date.

So after several trips to the Immigration office with all documents required for a new visa issued in Thailand, the feedback I have is no problem: just fly out before July 31st and come back in with a stamp for 90 days then do the visa. They cannot issue a new visa as my current visa is not yet expired I cannot fly out and back in as yet this is not possible. And no clear timeline as to when it will be. July is being touted as being when International flights will resume. But several conflicting reports seem to suggest otherwise. As in it might be August or even September before flights are an option. What happens on July 31 if flights are still not an option? Why cannot my current visa be cancelled and a new visa issued? Thanks and sorry for the long story...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is an Australian passport holder currently on a Non Imm B Multiple Entry Visa and facing challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Their 90-day stamp has expired, and they are on amnesty as international flights are unavailable. They have been advised by Immigration to leave Thailand before July 31st to receive a new stamp for 90 days, but concerns arise as flights may not resume by that date. The user is unsure if they can apply for a new visa inside Thailand or if their new work permit complicates their situation.

Same situation here - there's not much you can do besides scanning this group and the news for updates.

HOW come many did not read or did not understand the part:

a NEW announcement will be made with a transition period to apply for a new visa or a new period of stay.

I understand it was the next line after no overstay fines and that was where every body stopped reading and opened the champagne.

To make it clear, that it actually is mentioned

I think you may be overconfident. Section 3(2) states clearly that as soon as the borders are open aliens have 7 days to leave. Perhaps you missed that?

As Tod explained, you are not a foreigner who got a border pass under section 13 (2) of the Immigration act.

Be careful what your read and how your read, it could be very confusing if only parts are taken out of a text.

okay, let's sort this out

That is for DAY PASS holders, <- those are people from Cambodia, Lao and Myanmar that come into thailand across the border every day but who got trapped here when the borders closed. Once they manage to get the borders open those people have to leave within a week.

It has NOTHING at all to do with the foreigners here on visa exempt or visa entries and are on amnesty

Thanks. I did all this only to be told to fly out before July 31 and come back. My current visa expires mid August. Does my new work permit complicate the issue? Am I asking the wrong questions? As my several encounters both personally and through folks helping the same answer keeps coming back. Fly before July 31. This extension of stay has never been suggested.

Timothy Phan just finished my 60 day extension , visit my family. I had a multiple Non O based on married to a Thai. All now finished. Let's wait for more information the coming weeks.

why are people telling you to fly out BEFORE July 31? The amnesty continues no later than July 31.

Your work permit would not complicate the problems.

When the borders reopen, leave any method you choose and return, you'll get stamped in for 90 days. You can leave by air or by land.

not sure before July 31 is the issue, on or before serve the same purpose. Will borders even be open? It seems like a 'kick the can' down the road answer. However, August 1 would likely become an issue if we cannot fly/cross a border and return, hopefully with no quarantine. Anyways, not one Immigration officer had suggested the 'extension of stay' suggested previously. Am I asking the wrong question by asking for a new visa? Thanks for the help.

>Will borders even be open?

I don't know, July 31 is 6 weeks away from now, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

>However, August 1 would likely become an issue if we cannot fly/cross a border and return, hopefully with no quarantine.

It's going to be a huge problem for lots of people, myself included. The government will issue some advice or direction on what to do when it gets close to July 31

>Am I asking the wrong question by asking for a new visa?

Yes you are. What *I THINK* you want to ask is:

1. How can I stay legal in Thailand after the amnesty?

2. Can I get an extension of stay that lets me stay longer?

Thanks again for your time. I know a lot can happen in 6 weeks, guess we are all going to find. Appreciate the help.

Let's cut out the story.

1. You have a multiple entry non-b visa ("the sticker"). The visa is valid as it says on the sticker. I couldn't find the date it expires in the post.

2. Visas can not be cancelled.

3. You (almost) always can not get a visa inside Thailand, you must purchase them outside.

4. You can get an extension of stay based on employment inside Thailand. This extension of stay would let you stay in Thailand for a year, and can be kept alive by purchasing a re-entry permit at the local immigration office. I don't know if they sell extension of stay based on employment while you are on amnesty

If you can not get an extension of stay based on employment, stay on amnesty and wait for further information. Nobody knows what would happen after July 31

"purchasing a re-entry permit"....Not sure I understand what this is. Could you explain this a little more? Thanks. Love your page!
Benjamin ******
@Ted *******
If you have extension of stay, when you leave Thailand they become invalidated. However, for 1,000THB, you can buy a single entry re-entry permit, or 3,800THB for a multiple entry re-entry permit to keep the extension of stay "alive" when you leave. You purchase those re-entry permits at your local immigration office, or at some international airports.

You can not apply for a new visa at the local immigration office,

You apply for an Extension of Stay based on employment
