Hi everyone.

My employer is trying to get some errors in the paperwork for my yearly extension fixed ASAP, as my current one expires on Sunday 31-7.

I must go to immigration tomorrow.

What happens if the paperwork is incomplete or missing some signatures?

Can immigration grant me a short extension to get things correct?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is concerned about their pending visa extension that requires immediate corrections due to incomplete paperwork. Responses indicate that typically, immigration does not grant short extensions for paperwork issues, though some have experienced leniency from officers. Options mentioned include applying for a Covid extension or travelling to another country to re-enter Thailand for additional time. It's recommended to apply for extensions well ahead of expiration dates.

When I was working in Bangkok my colleague had an issue with his Non B. It was about to expire (as in less than a week) and no one was aware. They were under the false assumption it was a one year visa. No one understood it had to be extended before the 90 day mark.

The company hired an agency as they were clueless. The agency gathered paperwork and headed to CW to file for the extension. There were errors and other paperwork was needed from the company. They gave an extension for the company to gather the paperwork required. I believe it was for 14 days.

A few years ago I was facing the same problem as I am now, and immigration gave me two weeks "under consideration". Hopefully, they'll do it again if necessary.

Generally, no. There's no temporary extension to finish getting things together. That's why you can apply for extension 30 days ahead of time, and even 45 days at some offices.

You might be able to apply for a Covid extension currently, but you'd have to find out if that will impact your ability to extend your non-B (my assumption as a work extension since you said employer).

But you cannot work on a covid extension.

If I have to, I will cross the border and re-enter on a tourist visa. Covid extensions are out of the question I'm afraid.

You have 30 days before it expires to renew. Planning ahead is the best solution.

I planned ahead two months in advance, but was faced with a myriad of delays (e.g. getting my fourth teaching waiver, the weeklong Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha and the usual yearly mess ups by the school administration in getting a date or number wrong). Nothing new for me, this mess.

I've had the fourth teaching waiver is miraculous. Congratulations.

Not miraculous, if you study to get an education degree.

Unfortunately the usual answer would be no. You may find a lenient officer who will cut you some slack, but probably not. You may be able to get a Covid extension which would give you a further 60 days. Else you may need to pop over to another country and re enter to get more time.

I am on a non B extension and, as I understand, Covid extensions are not available for me.

@David *****
not so. There was a period where non immigrant visas were not allowed to apply but they revoked that months ago.

Can I extend a Non-B and WP on a Covid extension or do I need to re-start the entire process?

@David *****
no you can’t extend a WP on a Covid extension, all you’d be doing is getting extra time for your paperwork. As the non B extension would have expired you’d need to apply for the non B visa again and then extend in 3 months.
