TLDR : Answer Summary
The issue at hand is that the user's mother's Thai travel insurance has been declined because it does not explicitly state coverage of $50,000. Comments suggest that the Thai immigration authorities may not be familiar with international currency conversions, hence the requirement for the insurance document to specify the coverage in USD directly. Various commenters share their experiences and solutions, emphasizing the importance of having an insurance policy that clearly states a minimum coverage amount of $50,000, especially in relation to COVID-19. Recommendations for reputable insurance providers, like AXA and Luma, as well as the importance of obtaining a summary document that meets the Thai requirements, are also discussed.

Must be in $
Peter ******
Needs to be specific.

As specific, policy documents will say covid cover 50,000 usd to spare grief all round.

Maybe too many people trying to use generic holiday insurance?

Normal holiday insurance does not cover covid.

I used AXA from England and the first page didn’t state I was covered for £20m including Covid. Emailed AXA and they provided a one page summary and uploaded and no problems.

Axa policy's are expensive and limited outpatient cover unless you buy their top plan @ 3,000 euro approximately. I have their plans already so I didn't buy.

isn't joking. The immigration staff probably get 10'000 Thb a month... They have no idea if 10m GBP is alot or the same as 10m VND (which would be virtually nothing at all) - and it's just not Thai culture for them to figure it out logically, it's yours to present it EXACTLY as asked.
Benjamin ******
It needs to say $50,000. The Thai government probably doesn't know what 10M GBP is
Sophie *********
Mine didn't.

Mine was the same as yours (see attached image). It was authorised, no need to change language or anything else complicated. Call your insurance company to change the wording on the cover note.
