What should I do if I didn't receive my TM6 departure card after extending my visa exemption in Thailand?

I went to extend a 30 day visa exemption stamp last week at Muang Thong Tani Immigration and have subsequently realised they didn't give me the TM6 departure card back; the one they sometimes staple in.

How much hassle is this going to be and do I need to go back there to sort this out asap? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user expressed concern about not receiving their TM6 departure card after extending a 30-day visa exemption at Muang Thong Tani Immigration. Comments from the community provided reassurance, indicating that the card is not necessary for departure as it can be obtained at the airport. However, if further immigration actions like extensions or visa changes are needed, returning to the immigration office might be required to retrieve the card number for processing.

I left yesterday under the same circumstance. No issue

they don't purposely keep your departure card 🙁 it either fell out or they forgot to give it back but they sure don't keep them when you apply for an extension

They staple in a paper instead of the usual card. He said he’s already extended. I didn’t get my card back either.

it is an issue if he’s getting an extension of stay.

Relax. Departure card is not needed, you can just grab a new one at the airport when you leave. The TM6 number in all online applications is optional.

I mentioned that if they were leaving they could just go to the airport however a TM6 number IS needed to file for an extension of any type inside the country at the immigration office.

AND

inside the country there is no "online application"

If you're going to leave after this current 30 day extension runs out, you're fine, just go to the airport and you won't have problems.

HOWEVER if you're going to get another extension, or change visas or anything to do with the immigration office here I'd say slog on back and see what they say. You WILL need that card number to do immigration things

OK, thanks for this. I'll try to get the Covid extension now. Is it possible to go early to get this or do they start it the day you get there?

Also, they have a photocopy of the TM6 so hopefully, this might help the matter.

they as in who? the immigration office?

You need to wait until this current stamp is running out before you jump on the covid extension band wagon because most offices are starting the first covid extension the date you apply so you'd lose all the days you have left on your current stamp.

As long as you apply for the covid extension before the 25th of Jan <- the day the program runs out, you should be ok

Would reporting the loss to the police be enough for Immigration in the future?

@Malcolm *******
Immigration can replace the tm6 if its lost. Better to get that sorted before you need to extend, or they might charge you

happened to me to. Was on visarun to Cambodia. They had to call immigration in Bangkok. But went well

@Malcolm *******
just make sure you have been registered at your hotel or guest house, the same thing happened to me.

@Carl *******
The immigration office will also need the TM6

@Malcolm *******
nope, BUT some immigration offices make you get a police report before they'll give you a new TM6, so I'd say get one anyway then go to the immigration office where you lost it and get a new one
