Looking for advice, I went to MTT today to get my second covid extension, my previous extension didn't run out till Feb 23rd, the new stamp says under consideration and says i need to return on Feb 10th. I wont actually be in BKK on the 10th as I will be on holiday, what should I do? The immigration officer was less than helpful when I explained the situation.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user sought advice after receiving a new COVID extension stamp that required a return to the MTT office by February 10th, but they would be on holiday and unable to visit then. Responses indicated varying experiences with similar situations at immigration offices, particularly emphasizing that enforcement can differ by location in Thailand. Some users suggested it may be acceptable to attend a few days late, while others discussed potential complications due to holidays, especially Chinese New Year and the specifics of Bangkok's immigration policies.

I am also assuming they are closed Feb 12 for the holiday which adds a little more complexity to that.

The February 12th is in the list of bank holidays, but it has usually only been a holiday in a few provinces. It's also not listed as a holiday on the immigration calendar, the Thai embassy in DC's or the American embassy in Bangkok's websites as a public holiday, so it's a big possibility that it's not seen as a government holiday (eg. labor day is not a government holiday, but the royal plowing ceremony is).

I don't think chinese new year is a holiday when immigrations is closed

, that would be good news. Feb 12 has been called one of those “additional” holidays here so i wasnt sure.

now whether immigration offices are closed I don't know. It's NOT on the home page of the chiang mai immigration office (and they're pretty good about showing holidays)

Adam the exact same thing happened to me at MTT today also. I pressed another officer for advice and was told it would be ok to come “around” that date. Still a little vague for my liking but the officer seemed confident.

@Georgie ********
Yes it could be, my current visa is till the 23rd so I hoping this helps, unless the current visa is void once you apply again. If only there was a place that would give the complete rules when it comes to this covid extension process

Adam Wilkinson. The covid extension rules appear to be whatever the office or officer determines. Keep in mind it is a concessional extension, designed to help people who are "stuck in the country, unable to return". They may not view it as a "I can't come back on that day because I'll be on holiday".

i totally understand that but the immigration officer did say at the end that its 7 day over at the most and I asked her to repeat it so it should be OK

And before anyone else weighs in (especially those people from the Islands of Misfit Toys :P ) who use Samui and Surat Thani and who will say "it's no problem to go after the stamp is due" keep in mind this is BANGKOK.

I want all posters to realize if you haven't shown up after an under consideration stamp was due at MTT to get your extension inked in DO NOT COMMENT.
Padma's ******
MTT seem to be sticklers compared to other offices. Also what one officer says may not be the same as another. Good luck tho

@Tod ********
do you know if we go to get the second stamp before the date stated?
Tod *********
as far as I know
@Ad**
, you cannot go before the date in Bangkok.

Ok thanks
Tod *********
Some offices didn't have a problem with people going a few days after their under consideration stamp was due

BUT

Some offices did.. I guess if there's no way you can go back to get the "loop closed" on that date you can't do it, and you'll find out what happens when you do make it back.

Thanks for replying so quickly, I explained that the holiday was for my girlfriend, and she muttered no more than 7 days. But wanted to hear if anyone had the same problem and what the result was
Tod *********
@Ad**
If she said no more than 7 days then you take that as "cut in stone" (especially in bangkok).

I've seen them void applications for people that show up late on under consideration stamps and have you re-apply <- which in this covid extension you can't do seeing as the police order allowing them runs out this Friday.

ok I'll hold her to her word and take my Thai girlfriend along to help smoothen the process! They always seem to be quite dismissive to falangs there but more friendly towards Thai nationals
