TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to arrive in Thailand on a 30-day visa to apply for a retirement visa, and seeks advice on opening a bank account. Comments suggest alternatives like applying for a Non-O visa before arrival to ease the bank account process, and emphasize the importance of health insurance if applying for an O-A visa. There's also mention of needing to extend visas while in Thailand and potential challenges for those over 70 in obtaining health insurance.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

Used her myself, she’s nice, far priced and reliable. Part of the money she earns goes to homeless dogs and orphanages in the area. Line and WhatsApp works best.

You can apply for an O-A visa in your home country which is good for a year or more with foreign travel. The only drawback is that you would need to purchase a specific health insurance. At the end of the O-A you can switch to an O with no insurance.

yes, but you’ll then need to cancel the Non O-A by leaving and re-enter on a tourist visa/visa exemption before you can apply for a regular Non O in country. You can’t apply for a Non O on a Non O-A.

…and the benefits are that you can stay in Thailand for up to two years before you’ll need to go through the regular Non O process.

.

However there is no 30 day visa. Its arriving Visa waiver/exempt. You will need to do a ฿1900 baht extension and probably a border bounce too.

Or you can apply for a 90 days Non O visa before you leave with your bank statements at home, easily open a bank account in Thailand and bank the required 800K thb within a month to apply for your first year Extension of Stay.

You'll probably need to use an agent to open a bank account. It's very difficult to do without a long term visa.

You could also apply for the retirement visa from your Thai embassy before you travel and that might help you in opening a bank account once you arrive in Thailand.
