Hello! Does anyone know what if I overstay in Thailand within 1 day? My DTV requires me go to outside Thailand on 2 April. But I’m gonna have a meeting on 3 April. Could I leave in the afternoon on 3 April? I’m afraid of bad records on my passport 🥹 thank you
Answer summary
The discussion focuses on the risks associated with overstaying a visa in Thailand, specifically for a DTV visa holder. Multiple comments suggest that overstaying, even by one day, can lead to fines and potential negative impacts on future entry into the country. Many users advise against any overstay and recommend leaving Thailand before the visa expiration date, with various suggestions for quick trips across borders to reset the visa status. The consensus emphasizes the importance of adhering to visa regulations to avoid complications with Thai immigration.

Go out of Thailand now, and back in for 180 day stamp. You have time before your meeting. Avoid overstaying. You don’t want that on your record if at all possible

a Meeting in Thailand, the place where you are not allowed to work.

Yep I understand it is a meeting on-line and the rest of the world does not have internet and you have to be inside Thailand to meet all these others who are outside Thailand without internet.

Leave immediately, then fly straight back in. It's the safest and easiest way for you right now. Take the advice of people here, and don't overstay !!

So you have a meeting...

..You are likely on the DTV visa for the purpose of WORKCATION.

...You cannot work with any customer INSIDE Thailand.

...Be VERY careful.

...You have a great 5 year Visa.

...DON'T give Thai Immigration an opportunity to question you about WHY you overstay.

.... DON'T overstay !

Just take a quick trip across the border into Malaysia and back before then. You can even do it by train (although that will not be so quick) if you’re short on cash.

Why the heck you never thought of leaving, lets say tomorrow and then come back before your meeting? Why you have to think about overstaying?

Jesus christ some people really don't deserve to travel around let alone a visa access.

Anonieme deelnemer 660 if you can’t manage to go outside the country for 1 day within 6 (!) months, then who is the “imbecile” ?

Not a great idea, even for 1–2 days “only,” since you’ll be fined and flagged (not banned) anyway. As many suggest, leave now and come back before your meeting. Kind reminder: you’re not allowed to work with customers in Thailand (even foreigners). Online meetings can be conducted from anywhere.

Don't overstay if at all possible. That said, when departing by air and your overstay is less than 24 hours, you will be given an overstay one day fine waived stamp.

Better to just leave earlier and come back here before your meeting.

I wouldn’t give them any reason to flag you for any reason. Just leave tomorrow and come back and there won’t be any issues

You can leave today, tomorrow or any day before April 2nd, and come back and get 180 days.

You don't have to stay until April 2. You can just leave before and come back again before your meeting.

It's a lot better for your future if you don't overstay. Even if you get a 7 day extension it's bad since it's an "extension denied" stamp. Thai immigration is getting more and more strict and you can't predict if tomorrow they will completely deny everyone with an overstay. There are a LOT of people with no overstays being denied entry these days.

no, there isn’t. NOBODY gets denied for previous overstay.

So... why lie? There's people on this group who had past overstays and were denied. Period. Full stop, a false statement. Yet, there's certainly reasons to believe with how strict the immigration has become that it can change at any point. Breaking the law by overstaying is a good way to give them a reason. Even IF some people are being approved with overstays it's no reason to put something on your permanent record. These criminal mentalities is why immigration is so adversarial for people who follow the rules. You're in someone else's country and allowed their by their kindness, follow the f*cking law.

no there isn’t. And never has been. Why lie indeed. You have no clue. Full stop.

NOBODY gets denied for previous overstay. No more of your bs. Thx

Pay the fine and leave.

I had a very good reason (car accident) and a new visa approved so it was no fine but I had a big discussion.

no not a good reason at all. You're just as big a fool for not getting yourself out before your "car accident"
