Is it normal for a DTV visa application to be stuck in 'pending documents check' for weeks?

Hello, I applied strong power DTV visa on March 11 in Ho Chi Minh. I'm programmer who works remotely with foreigner companies. All my documents are fine. They requested additional documents on March 16 and since then the status of my application haven't changed - it's still 'pending documents check'. Have you ever experienced such a delay? Is it normal? Maybe I should go to their office and ask about the progress in person? For now it feels like that my application was lost somewhere in the queue. I Tried to email them also - emails don't pass through. Thanks 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their experience with a delay in their DTV visa application status, which has remained in 'pending documents check' since they submitted additional documents. Other community members comment on their experiences, indicating that such delays are common, with some waiting over two months without updates. While some suggest contacting the office in person, warnings are given about the potential risk of rejection if they push for information. Overall, it's indicated that waiting is often required and there's no way to expedite the process.

You are going to be stuck in pending documents for a couple weeks then they circle back to it and reject you, that's the pattern you're in now. Otherwise it would of moved foward already.

Anonymous participant I really hope it doesn't happen to you, especially now you told me you have love involved, and that that kind of heartache does not come into your life, a DTV will give you longterm stability with your thai girlfriend then later you can consider a different route (marriage visa) You will have 5 years to come up with a backup plan

Read about delay, yes almost every day there is a post with the same question.

Is it normal, yes, it is normal that it takes time to check your documents

Should i go to the Embassy, you can try, but i doubt if you get passed security

And another anonymous who decide that the documents are fine, but still the Embassy made a request for additional documents.

When all documents where fine, there should be not request for additional documents.

The 'pending documents check' limbo is a nightmare. I’ve seen this happen when there’s a micro-error in the data structure that the automated government filters can't process, so they just stall.

I run a Global Sovereign Audit infrastructure that uses localized AI (off-the-grid) to verify residency and tax docs in under 60 minutes. It catches the 'invisible' errors that cause these delays before you even submit them. It might be worth running a 60-minute audit on your paperwork to see exactly what’s flagging in the system.

Check it here:

It is normal.

Some ppl including me has been waiting for more than 2 mths, and the status is still pending. They asked some documents and check if you are still in Vietnam in the meantime.

If you call or email to push them, there is a risk of being rejected.
