Just got denied exit by land in Mai Sai. Going back to Chiang Mai. I have exit by land 2 times before this year. But I do not have entry by land more that 1 time. I need to stay in Chiang Mai until december 27. My visa extension expire december 6. What to do?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user faced a denial of exit by land from Mai Sai despite having previously crossed the border. With a visa extension expiring soon, they are looking for options to stay in Thailand longer, considering solutions like obtaining a single entry tourist visa or flying out to avoid further land exit issues.

and while we can debate this until the cows come home it's not gonna change the fact that the O/P was denied exiting the country by land.

I've already outlined your options. Good Luck,

Seeing as you were denied bouncing out and back by land your options are

Go to a thai consulate in another country and BUY a single entry tourist visa. The closest thai consulate to Chiang Mai is Vientiane (they require an appointment to get in the gate)

OR

Fly out and back to get a 30 day visa exempt entry by air <- be prepared to show proof of funds (20K baht or the equivalent in CASH), proof of onward travel in 30-60 days and proof of lodging.

That should be no problem. Already have schduled flight out to Hanoi, december 27. What worries me is the latest months many cases of denied access, even when following all requirements, as seen here in this group.

Fly is your only option with 2 land crossings.

Air Asia. CNX to KUL

or VietJet CNX to SGN or somewhere..

The only time they deny exiting by land at Mae Sai - Tachiliek is if you have two 30 day visa exempt entries by land so far this year.

That is an EASY border to bounce out and back on.

What is your nationality?

the exits dont count only the entries by land or sea!

after your 2nd exit, did u enter again with a visa exempt at Udun Thani?
