Another question. When applying for the tourist visa, it asks that you have proof of an outbound journey (I'm applying from the UK). As i don't yet have an idea of my next travel plan after 60 days (or possibly 90 if i extend), would i be able to submit a coach or train booking, as these have very little impact on cost, instead of a fight? And if not, and a flight is required for the visa, then what is the best airline to use for a full / near full refund. Has anyone from the UK specifically done either of these two things when applying for the tourist visa?
Answer summary
The inquiry revolves around the proof of an outbound journey required for a Thai tourist visa application from the UK. Users debate whether a coach or train booking can suffice instead of a flight, with many stating that while a flight is preferred, some suggest using a cheap train or bus ticket within Southeast Asia or booking a refundable flight with easy cancellation as viable alternatives. There is also discussion about the necessity of confirmed e-tickets and the risks associated with using fake bookings.

Pick a flight out, any flight, and use it FOR the visa.

When you're about to come in, if you MUST ('cause the IO on arrival is NOT going to ask you for proof), buy a prepaid ticket out to show the IO IF s/he asks (s/he won't) and cancel when you get to your accommodation.

A cheap train or buss ticket within 60 days is just fine. A ticket to Laos or Cambodia at 100 THB or something.

OP
Henrik JN do you have experience of this? The tourist visa web page is very specific about wanting an e ticket from the airline directly for onward travel.

Ian Mellen, yes, I have made multiple TR visas for ppl around. But true that I cannot give a guarantee, but you can try buy a cheap train or bus ticket, and wait to buy a plane ticket till the UK Embassy refuses to accept it.

Just buy a cheap flight ticket out of Thailand like to Cambodia when you in Thailand then cancel your Cambodia flight

can't do that, the thai tourist visa states you need proof of onward journey to be uploaded before entering thailand and NONE of the airlines do a one way flight from BKK to say another neighbour country that is at least 2 months in the future.

Just book a refundable flight on Air Asia and cancel it the moment you get through immigration.

OP
Jonathan Seraphim you cannot book a one way ticket on any of the asian airlines, 2 months out, I've been trying, but they always show as no results.

Cliff Dorsett don't need that unless you are staying with Thai family/friends and dont have a hotel booking

Paul Malcolm "air ticket directly from airline"..this is getting more difficult...some travel agents don´t send e-tickets, only booking number. so, how to manage that?

Leevi Kiviranta, you need a flight ticket to Thailand, and you need a confirmed ticket not only a booking number. Any airline will issue a confirmed air ticket.

OP
Leevi Kiviranta this is exactly what I'm talking about. This is over kill imo, also when booking a hotel ( which you can cancel very easily), i think they want you to have you ENTIRE iteneraty planned out, so every single hotel, and dates confirmed.

It asks for proof by air. Worth a try though.

Damien Kindregan specifically states on the tourist visa doc section that you must have an outbound e-ticket directly booked through the airline and not an agent.

Ian Mellen be weary they are clamping down on fake bookings and its fraud if they see this.....Using a fake booking site to generate "dummy" flight itineraries or hotel reservations for immigration and visa applications is highly risky and legally classified as documentary fraud. If you submit a fake booking, immigration officers can easily detect it, leading to severe, long-lasting consequences for your ability to travel internationally. It goes on The International Air Transport Association (IATA),marked for life.

OP
Derek Malone thanks for the advice. I was not going to use one of these companies that provides a booking reference only, was going to book a genuine bus / train and eat the cost, as that is proof of onward journey.
