How long does it take fir a 60 day visa to arrive in UK? Ive seen that you can get a 90 day non o visa, but the 60 day one seems far easier then extend? Im torn between the 2,
Answer summary
The processing time for a 60-day tourist visa from the UK can be as quick as 3 days, with many applicants reporting receipt of their visa via email in a similar timeframe. However, travelers are advised to consider the 90-day Non-O visa, especially if they plan to stay longer or want to avoid the hassle of applying for extensions. The Non-O visa can save time and potentially money, as it does not require proof of onward travel within 60 days, which is often requested by airlines. For the 60-day visa, showing sufficient funds (20,000 baht equivalent in UK bank statements) is necessary. The discussion reveals that various users have differing opinions about suitability based on individual travel plans and circumstances.

If you're just looking for 90 days during the winter, I go with the SETV plus an extension. Never had an issue with flight once I show the Visa to airline (this is from the US). The non-O is for those over 50 who plan to stay long term - not for tourism. Don't know if you may have issues in the future for not applying for full retirement Visa which would require 800,000 baht in Thai bank or 65,000 monthly income (I don't know if this is only per person or couple). The SETV is $40 USD and extension 1900 baht or 4000-6000 using an agent.

If you consider going more than just the winter, the non-O may be a better choice.

I would get the non o over 50 visa which is valid for 90 days, each of you would need to apply. Its far easier and less hassle, no need to apply for a 30 day extension, no need to possibly show onward travel within 60 days ( airlines can ask you to show before they will let you board the flight). All sorted in the uk before you go

Your problem with the 60 day visa, is that your airline may want to see onward travel within the 60 days.

OP
Nigel Mills this is the part that im not sure about, 🤔 do they nit ask for onward travel with the 90 day visa?

Carol Samuel no it’s classed as a long term visa. Not 100% sure how the classify to 60 day visa. But in my opinion the 90 day visa is better, it saves you from wasting a day getting the extension.

Iri Pihur That's more than 90 days - you better recheck your date plans.

I’ve literally just done the 60 day tourist visa from UK - only took 3 days to process and receive visa document by email. Yes you will need to upload 3 months of bank statements to prove you have a current UK £ equivalent balance of 20k baht.

Aeon Saundez are you staying 60 days or do you intend extending for a further 30 days? Have you booked a return flight?

If you are eligible for the 90 day Non-O visa that makes far more sense. Saves you having to spend time at an immigration office to get a 30 day extension and actually works out cheaper too

well thats what I yhought initially, but its getting confusing, we are both in our 60,s and just want to come for 3 months to get away from Scottish winter for a bit. ( we went for first time last year for a month ).

I understand you have to show bank balance ect, I assume thats in my UK bank? I see dome folks saying you need a Thai bank account, is that for long term retirees?

I had figured on applying gor 90 day non o visA, but now im seeing conflicting comments, so ehats the actual script lol?

for the 90 day Non-O visa you show money in your home bank. You only need to worry about money in a Thai bank if you plan to stay longer than the 90 days and want to apply for a 12 month extension of stay

Carol Samuel which bit is confusing you? The application in UK you can use your UK bank. You'll get a 90 day visa stay. Which is what you say you want. You don't need a Thai bank unless you want a 12 month extension of stay.

Or enter with a 60 day tourist visa and go to immigration to get extra 30 days.

Carol Samuel good grief! I was asking which bit was confusing you so people could help with answers. It's useful to know so answers are relevant. Anyway I offered couple of answers that might help. You chose to be rude! Wish I'd not bothered now.
