Not visa related, but is there a organisation I can complain to regarding a hotel in pattaya.

The hotel has been without hot water for 3 days now a d looks like it will be maby 4 days before they can fix it. So I have asked if I can check out today and have a refund for my remaining days and they say it is not possible.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A traveler is seeking advice on how to handle a situation where their hotel in Pattaya has not provided hot water for three days, and the management is unwilling to issue a refund for the remainder of their stay. The discussion includes suggestions such as contacting the tourist police for guidance, leaving reviews on platforms like Google or Agoda, and considering disputes through credit card companies if applicable. Many comments express skepticism about getting a refund and share varying experiences regarding service standards in Thailand.

Been without hot water in Thailand a dozen times now. Never once did I think of going online (onto an unrelated forum no less) to ask people where I can complain.

Just enjoy your vacation in *checks notes* Pattaya ..ugh

You will not always get hot water in the resorty areas, especially if it's in the lower price ranges.

Thailand is so warm all year, all day, that a lot of people simply don't care about heating water for shower.

Some even prefer a cold shower.

I wouldn't push this too far, if you hit a brick wall.

Book another hotel and then dispute charge with your credit card company. Tell them your complaint. Not sure your travel insurance will cover you..all worth a shot, but me personally I would just book another hotel, even of it's just to take showers in. 😀.

How much is this hotel charging for 1 night? If it’s a cheap Charlie place don’t expect much, if it’s not a flop house you have a legit complaint.

If payment was made on a credit card I would call the issuer and see if there is some recourse. Ie, you were not provided with the advertised accommodations that you booked. I’ve successfully had cc charges reversed in the past.

Top tip for booking hotels in Thailand. Only book with free cancellation option to one day before. Then book only 2 nights at a time. When things go pear shaped you can cancel and move on.

Defamation is a big thing in Thailand and does not if matter if you are civil. Defamation is a criminal matter and it also does not matter if the defamatory statement is true.

Sadly in my extensive travels in Asia water temperature and water pressure is the most common problem I have encountered but never to this level.

One in Vietnam I transfered hotels after about two hours...no hot water.

I quickly checked the hotel next door ...re water and. Vacancy...both positive.

Went back to original stated my case politely and received cash refund immediately.

Be gentle .with staff as they have very little control over operstions but take all the flack.

Should have asked for new room. I guess you could do a review of the hotel with the issues but keep it civil as defamation is a big thing in Thailand.

It's called defamation and you can be sued for it, regardless of whether or not your review is truthfull. Thais are very insecure and to be called out wrong they worry they will lose face. It's very rare that a Thai will admit they are wrong.

Hot water is generally made in room (instant hot water heater). I assume the unit in your room is broken? They can't switch you rooms? Who did you book with, direclty with hotel?

yes direct with hotel. They have said they are going to fit electric showers in all of the rooms but at the moment it is from a central boiler.

Yeah, they've probably been saying that for years. Only practical option is the tourist police. And all they can do is ask/negotiate/translate for you with the hotel. They wouldn't be able to force them to refund anything, but sometimes just their presence is helps.

If you stay though, you wouldn't be able to get anything.
